Gauteng prepares major rollout of breakthrough HIV prevention injection

Gauteng is set to roll out Lenacapavir, a groundbreaking HIV prevention injection taken just twice a year, at 133 health facilities across the province. The initiative forms part of South Africa’s broader strategy to expand HIV prevention options and help end AIDS as a public health threat by 2030. Targeting people at higher risk of infection, the rollout is expected to reach communities across Johannesburg, Tshwane, Ekurhuleni, Sedibeng and the West Rand.
