Gavin Blackburn - How to use games at training

This week’s guest is Gavin Blackburn, Gavin is based in Scotland and has been a head coach at different rugby clubs for many years. During our chat Gavin spoke about condensing the 2nd training session of the week so that he can review the content that was covered during the first session to accommodate players that were unable to attend the first session. He spoke about falling out of the game for a period of time, due to outside influences. We chatted about using games at training to help player learning. He spoke about being honest with players around feedback and that the player may not like the feedback but it needs to be honest. He also briefly discussed the new below sternum Tackle Law that is being introduced and how he had to re-coach tackle tech to his players.
