Send us Fan MailThe dreadful war raging in Ukraine has now lasted over two years. In Gaza, and increasingly around other territories in the Middle East, only a matter of months since the Hamas attack on Israel triggered subsequent bloodshed.Some while before the Gaza conflict sprung into hideous life, I speculated on a possible outcome of the war (Russia's 'special military operation') in Ukraine. I was thinking about the uneasy resolutions of conflict, specifically in Cyprus, Hong Kong, and closer to home the matter of Northern Ireland’s borders between the United Kingdom, which is part and the Republic of Ireland. In each case, after prolonged negotiations and bloodshed resolution, was reached with some concessions among the protagonists. The results are generally considered tense, but at minimum, a cessation of violence.In informal discussions, my suggestion was rapidly dismissed.
