GBW #19: Dead, White & Blue (10 to Midnight / Sliver / All-American Murder)

from The Good, The Bad, and The What!? · host Ryan Oliver

Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more! On this week's episode, Ryan and Chris get as festive as they can for the Fourth of July with American Giallos; films that take inspiration from the pulp paperback novels that were the cornerstone of Italian horror/genre cinema. We start with 1983's "10 to Midnight," featuring one of the better late-period Charles Bronson performances and a bleak morality play coated in Cannon Films sleaze. Then, we move into 1993's "Sliver," the reunion of star Sharon Stone and screenwriter Joe Eszterhas after "Basic Instinct," and it's nowhere near as captivating as the aforementioned Paul Verhoeven film. Finally, we move into 1991's DTV oddity "All-American Murder," which features Christopher Walken as a detective who loves basketball and directed by Potsie Weber from "Happy Days."
