Gender activist call for business to come on board and support fight against women abuse

SAfm — Women at the Gender Summit being held in Centurion Pretoria, say the corporate sector is also responsible for the oppression of women. They have been speaking about ways to end gender based violence in a first such gathering in the country. Yesterday women told their individual stories about sexual abuse and rape. Fatima Shabodiem who is one of the commission coordinators at the summit, says it is interesting to note that the National Development Plan does not say much about the economic development of women. She says capitalism requires black women who are disempowered.
