Huerta elaborates on the issue of gender-based violence and the relationship between grief, social media and the advocacy that lead to eventual political action. Although the audience may be familiar with the murders of women in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, Mourning and Mobilization goes beyond Mexico and the United States. Dra. Huerta explains that a society in which girls and women are devalued produce environments where femicides occur in such large numbers that they're diffult to adequately track.
