Clockwise General News — The Trump administration maintains the war in Iran is effectively terminated, arguing the May 1st War Powers Resolution deadline is now moot. This is Clockwise general news, 2 PM Eastern. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated a ceasefire "paused the clock," circumventing congressional approval for continued military action. Many Republicans are deferring to the White House on this interpretation. President Trump has signed bipartisan legislation to fund much of the Department of Homeland Security.
