Generational Limerick shop fights for survival

The owner of a family-run newsagent in Limerick is warning that independent corner shops are being pushed to the brink by rising costs and a new annual tobacco and nicotine license. Shannon Stores in Castleconnell was opened in 1946, and stood as a fish and tackle shop before then. It’s been in George’s family for eight decades; he spoke to Live 95’s Tara Byrne about the situation. Image via Shannon Stores Facebook. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
