Generations Sketch 18

from Bivouac Recording SC · host Terence LLoren

This composition study was made during my trip in Hong Kong. I knew I was going to be here for a few months and rather than to pause my tape experiments, I brought a single portable tape recorder, Sony tc-5550-2, and other digital players to replicate conditions I had at home. The new limitations are quite interesting with a minimal kit. I wish I had made more custom cables to experiment more with routings. To top it all off, a plastic piece critical for the operation of the recorder had disintegrated and broke so I 3d modeled and milled a new part in metal, which unfortunately took a couple of weeks. The audio is still from the Shanghai ferry and was layered at least 10 times, in random format, no breath tempo. I further improvised by cutting and resplicing the entire composition finishing up with another few layers of overdubs.
