Genesis Part 61 — The Lord Will Provide In Genesis 22, Abraham is tested as he takes Isaac, his beloved son and son of promise, to the place of sacrifice. When Isaac asks, “Where is the lamb?” Abraham responds with faith: “God will provide.” God provides a ram as a substitute for Isaac, pointing forward to the greater sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Isaac is spared, but Christ—the beloved Son of God—is not. At the cross, Jesus willingly gives Himself in the place of sinners, bearing the judgment we deserve. This passage reminds us that our hope is not found in what we can provide for God, but in what God Himself has provided for us. The Lamb has been provided, the promise stands, and Christ is enough. Where is the Lamb? God has provided Him.
