Genesis Part 62 — Grieving With Hope In Genesis 23:1–2, we see Abraham grieving the death of Sarah. Her death reminds us that faith does not exempt us from sorrow, loss, or death. Yet Scripture teaches us that believers do not have to grieve without hope. In this sermon, we explore how Christians can mourn honestly while holding firmly to the hope we have in Jesus Christ. Grief is not a failure of faith, and tears are not evidence that God has abandoned us. Lament is faith bringing our pain into God’s presence. Because Christ died and rose again, death is still an enemy—but it is a defeated enemy. The grave does not have the final word. For those who are in Christ, separation is not forever, and a day is coming when death will be no more and God will wipe away every tear. Final Truth: We do not have to choose between grief and faith. We can weep deeply because love is real, and we can hope deeply because Christ is risen.
