Genesis Part 65 — “I Will Go”
from Pastor Sherman Burkhead Hosted by Sherman Burkhead
Genesis Part 65 — “I Will Go” Genesis 24:28–67 In Genesis 24, we see God’s providence unfolding through ordinary circumstances to accomplish His greater purposes. As Abraham’s servant recounts how God guided him to Rebekah, we are reminded that God’s faithfulness should not only be recognized—it should lead us to worship, testimony, and trust. When the way becomes clear, faith must respond. Rebekah’s simple words, “I will go,” demonstrate a willing obedience that leaves what is familiar and steps into what God has placed ahead. Her journey reminds us that clarity does not eliminate cost, and obedience does not eliminate uncertainty. As Isaac and Rebekah finally meet, we see where God was leading all along. Sarah is gone, but God’s promise continues. Through Isaac and Rebekah, the covenant line moves forward, showing us that God is faithfully working through the details of life to accomplish His redemptive purposes. God’s providence is personal, but it is never merely private. We are called to trust and obey not only for our own sake, but as part of God’s purposes that can impact our families, churches, communities, and generations to come. Takeaways from this message: Remember and rehearse God’s past faithfulness. Obey when God has made the next step clear. Be willing to leave what is familiar when God calls you forward. Trust God with what you cannot yet see. Remember that your faithfulness can influence generations. Our confidence is not in our ability to perfectly understand providence, but in the God who has already demonstrated His faithfulness in Christ. Obey what God has made clear. Pray for wisdom when the road is uncertain. Trust God with what you cannot see.
