Genesis: Wine, Drunkenness and The Curse of Canaan - Genesis 9:20-29

Moses, the writer of Genesis, lets us know that Ham is the father of Canaan because of the events that shall unfold in this portion of Scripture.  Noah gets drunk from his homemade wine and is uncovered within his tent. Noah cursed Canaan. This implies that Noah’s younger son did something but does not reveal what his younger son did.  Ham was not Noah’s younger son and Canaan was a grandson, so how can this verse be explained in a way that makes sense.
