Genius Is Pain

Genius Is Pain Verse 1: One thing I have learned. Genius is pain You pick your self off the ground. Just to be knocked down again One thing you must know You have to face the truth The wisdom of your age Is not wasted on the youth Chorus 1: There is music to be found In the sweet sound of birdsong There is poetry in everyday conversation There is beauty all around you just have know where to find it It’s so easy just to be looking too hard Verse 2: Something I have found. Genius is pain If love is not the answer then you’re asking the wrong question In all the things I know. and all the things I don’t know I know the things I know that I don’t think that I don’t know Chorus 2: There is magic to be found In the smiling faces of children There is wisdom in the speeches of Michael Foot I think laughter is the best cure I know for depression It’s so obvious but easy to overlook Middle 8: Looking at the world from a fresh perspective I can see all to clearly where I went wrong It doesn’t take the mind of a great detective To write my thoughts down clearly in this song Verse 3: John once said to me. Genius is pain Everything that goes around comes back to you again One thing I must learn. To fingerpick guitar But I am crap at fingerpicking. Close but no cigar Chorus 3: There is something to be learned. In everything that you encounter As Socrates once said, “to be is to do” I don’t know why it took so long to reach the obvious conclusion There’s a lesson in our failures that’s true Verse 4: One thing I have learned. Genius is pain Clouds are overhead and I’m standing in the rain One thing I have found. Hiding up my sleeve If you say something often enough people will believe Chorus 4: There is music to be found in the crowd sound of people There is poetry in the writings of Chairman Mao There is wonder all around if you keep your eyes wide open There is clarity in minds not plagued by doubt
