Geoff Bennett is an American broadcast journalist and a co-anchor of the PBS NewsHour alongside Amna Nawaz. He has worked as an editor, reporter and news anchor on radio, cable and broadcast television, and online. He is also the author of the book, Black Out Loud: The Revolutionary History of Black Comedy from Vaudeville to '90s Sitcoms. This book details the history of Black comedians in America. Bennett chronicles the transformative history of Black comedy in America, drawing on research and interviews with the actors and executives behind some of the most impactful shows. This book includes interviews and insights from Martin Lawrence, Robert Townsend, Debbie Allen, Tisha Campbell, Keenan Ivory Wayans, Marlon Wayans, Quinta Brunson, Arsenio Hall, and many more! Geoff joins the show to further talk about the context of his book, and to delve into the significance of Black comedy in America. Geoff is joined in this conversation by comedians Ced Boogie & Dee Lee, author Dr. James Peterson, and media professional, Roxi Fab.
