GEOINT 2024 - Open Geospatial Consortium | Peter Rabley

Peter Rabley, the new CEO of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), has a background in geography and economics. He has previously worked in private business and focused on property rights, particularly in areas where property rights are lacking. Rabley believes that this is an exciting time for geospatial technology and sees an opportunity to elevate geospatial in policy and technology conversations. He also discusses the role of OGC as a standards organization and the need to balance heavily engineered standards with more agile ones. Rabley plans to evaluate the industry’s use of standards through surveys and improved interaction with the community. 🌍 Peter Rabley has a background in geography and economics. 🏢 He has worked in private business and focused on property rights. 🌐 Rabley believes it is an exciting time for geospatial technology. 🤝 He sees an opportunity to elevate geospatial in policy and technology conversations. 📊 Rabley plans to evaluate the industry’s use of standards through surveys and community interaction. 📈 He aims to balance heavily engineered standards with more agile ones.
