"Think local" is becoming the new mantra for marketers as the potential to find customers through geolocation is rapidly developing. Those wanting an organic banana, a cheap meal or to find the whereabouts of their friends, are increasingly discovering the touch of a smart phone app will deliver the goods. There are privacy issues to be considered, but it seems there's no holding back. Experts suggest the mobile phone is the most persuasive technology ever invented and for marketers it's simply irresistible. Suddenly Facebook is looking "so yesterday" for companies that can heed the local call to action.
