George Carlin's first solo album (a previous one featured the comedy team of Carlin and Burns) was recorded November, 1966 in Detroit. It was called Take-Offs and Put-Ons and featured dozens of subway-photo-booth-sized pix of George making faces. George's contract came after his early TV exposure, including this one with his "Indian Sergeant" bit (also on the album) from March of 1966.
