April. 20th 2021 after former Minneapolis Officer Derek Chauvin was convicted Tuesday of murder and manslaughter for pinning George Floyd to the pavement with his knee. In a case that touched off worldwide protests, and reexamination of racism and policing in the U.S.Theres not a lot more I could say here that hasn’t been said with more passion. It’s not my place to lecture or speak out for. My place here as a history based podcast is to mark moments that change the course of history for America, moments that have ramifications globally, George Floyd was a man of community family and struggle in and of himself. His Murder woke people to an issue that had been right there on the outskirts of their safety zones. Suddenly something that didn’t affect them was in their face. A discussion began. Debates, conflicts, and a assault of ideas toward solutions. Suddenly white America was reaching out to the black community to ask what they could do, What they were doing and anything else they could do to show they weren’t racist. They joined in protest and solidarity. And while the conversation is still new and labored. It is being had.
