There are 10 guidelines inscribed on the granite structure in eight modern languages. A shorter message is inscribed on the top capstone in four ancient language scripts.   The Guidelines- Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature. Guide reproduction wisely — improving fitness and diversity. Unite humanity with a living new language. Rule passion — faith — tradition — and all things with tempered reason. Protect people and nations with fair laws and just courts. Let all nations rule internally resolving external disputes in a world court. Avoid petty laws and useless officials. Balance personal rights with social duties. Prize truth — beauty — love — seeking harmony with the infinite. Be not cancer on the earth — Leave room for nature — Leave room for nature.   RC Christian paid for it. Could be a pseudonym for Rosicrucians? Designed to survive catastrophes.    Author Brad Meltzer notes that the stones were built in 1979 at the height of the Cold War, and thus argues that they may have been intended as a message to the possible survivors of a nuclear World War III. The engraved suggestion to keep humanity's population below 500 million could have been made under the assumption that war had already reduced humanity below this number.
