German Podcast Episode #176: Visit to the Rila Monastery on 12th March 2020

Hey Leute, willkommen zurück zu einer weiteren Episode unseres Podcasts. Heute werde ich euch von meinem Tagesausflug zum Rila-Kloster am 12. März erzählen. Also, am 11. habe ich bei der Rezeption meines Hostels nach dem besten Weg gefragt, um zum Kloster zu gelangen. Sie schlugen vor, ein Mitfahrgelegenheit zu nehmen, also habe ich eine über sie gebucht. Am nächsten Morgen wurde ich abgeholt und schloss mich einer Gruppe von 7 anderen Reisenden aus verschiedenen Ländern an. Während wir fuhren, bekamen wir einen Blick auf die schneebedeckten Berge in der Ferne. Es war ein wunderschöner Anblick. Nach etwa 2 Stunden kamen wir im Rila-Kloster an. Es ist ein atemberaubender Ort, umgeben von Natur. Das Rila-Kloster ist ein renommiertes bulgarisches orthodoxes Kloster, das im Rila-Gebirge, etwa 120 Kilometer südlich von Sofia, liegt. Gegründet im 10. Jahrhundert, ist es eines der bedeutendsten kulturellen, historischen und architektonischen Wahrzeichen Bulgariens. Die aufwendigen Holzschnitzereien, Fresken und Mosaike sind einfach atemberaubend. Die Hauptkirche, die Kirche der Geburt der Jungfrau, ist ein Wunderwerk religiöser Kunst. Der Innenraum ist mit Gold und Silber geschmückt, und die Fresken zeigen Szenen aus der Bibel und dem Leben der Heiligen. Wir verbrachten einige Stunden damit, das Kloster zu erkunden, uns über die Schönheit der Fresken und die friedliche Atmosphäre zu wundern und tranken etwas Kaffee und Kuchen im nahegelegenen kleinen Café. Insgesamt war es ein fantastischer Tagesausflug. Das Rila-Kloster ist ein absolutes Muss, wenn Sie jemals in Bulgarien sind. Today, I'm going to tell you about my day trip to the Rila Monastery on March 12th. So, on the 11th, I asked my hostel reception about the best way to get to the monastery. They suggested taking a shared car, so I booked one through them. The next morning, I was picked up and joined a group of 7 other travelers from different countries. As we drove, we got a glimpse of the snow-capped mountains in the distance. It was a beautiful sight. After about 2 hours, we arrived at the Rila Monastery. It's a stunning place, surrounded by nature. The Rila Monastery is a renowned Bulgarian Orthodox monastery located in the Rila Mountains, about 120 kilometers south of Sofia. Founded in the 10th century, it is one of Bulgaria's most important cultural, historical, and architectural landmarks. The intricate woodcarvings, frescoes, and mosaics are simply breathtaking. The main church, the Church of the Nativity of the Virgin, is a marvel of religious art. The interior is adorned with gold and silver, and the frescoes depict scenes from the Bible and the lives of saints. We spent a few hours exploring the monastery, marveling at the beauty of the frescoes and the peaceful atmosphere and had some coffee and cake at nearby small café. Overall, it was a fantastic day trip. The Rila Monastery is a must-see if you're ever in Bulgaria.
