Gerry O Mahony Talks Celtic Box Cup 2021 and Carl Greaves Prepares for a Busy New Look Sky Sports Boxing

Not long discharged from hospital - Al explains his recent bout of illness & how he’s bouncing back into Season 3 of the podcast. One of our new features this season will be to focus on and highlight the grassroots of boxing in Ireland by speaking with and visiting the various clubs around the country. Kicking us off will be Gerry O’Mahony as he talks us through the huge work that goes into running the Celtic Box Cup in Dungarvan every year. Renowned boxing expert and award winning journalist Neil Loughran looks back over a brilliant Belfast boxing bonanza and gives his thoughts on the performances. Feargal McKenna chatted to Al a while back and explained the blueprint behind the incredible growth and rise of his sons Aaron & Stevie. And not many in boxing can tick the amount of boxes that Carl Greaves can. He had almost 40 pro fights - winning a British & WBF title enroute. He boxed the likes of Michael Gomez, Alex Arthur and Carl Johansen and after boxing has gone on to train Dec Spellman, Sam Bowen and David Avanesyan to name a few.
