Big Idea: To follow Jesus daily is to walk in loyal love, quiet faithfulness, and courageous surrender—even when no one’s watching. 1. DEVOTION in the Dark (Ruth 1:16–18) • Ruth makes a covenant decision in obscurity. • Following Jesus is often unseen faithfulness. 2. FAITHFULNESS in the Fields (Ruth 2:1–3) • Ruth doesn't wait for ideal conditions—she works humbly. • Following Jesus means showing up daily with integrity. 3. OBEDIENCE in the Unfamiliar (Ruth 3:7-11) • Ruth takes risks rooted in obedience, not ambition. (No kinsmen redeemers in her culture.) • Faithful obedience positions us for redemptive breakthrough. 4. REDEMPTION at the End (Ruth 4:9-10; 13–17) • The one who followed daily becomes part of the Messiah’s story. • Practicing the way brings fruit beyond imagination. Gospel Realization: Ruth’s daily surrender echoes the call of Christ—to leave behind our old life, live in covenant community, and trust that faithfulness in obscurity will lead to redemption through Jesus. Why it fits: • Ruth leaves her homeland (denies herself), identifies with Naomi’s God and people (takes up new identity), and lives faithfully in obscurity (gleaning daily in the fields). • Her life is a beautiful picture of quiet faithfulness in the ordinary. • Boaz, her redeemer, is a clear Christ-type (Kinsman-Redeemer). • Ruth shows the cost and reward of steadfast obedience.
