Week 3: BELONG – “Finding Family in the Body” Get Lit Week 9: Deuteronomy 21 – Joshua 8Key Passage: Deuteronomy 29:9–15 Title: Covenant CommunityETHOS - the distinguishing character, sentiment, moral nature, or guiding beliefs of a person, group, or institution Core Beliefs (Brief Summary)• Jesus is the only Savior and Lord.• Salvation is by grace through faith.• The Spirit empowers us for witness, holiness, and fruitfulness.• The Bible is our authority and compass.• The Church is a community on mission.• Discipleship is our lifestyle.• Life, marriage, and mission are sacred and designed by God.Big Idea:We were not saved into isolation, but into covenant community. We belong to God—and to each other. 1. Better Together – Everyone is PresentDeuteronomy 29:9–11Everyone is invited into covenant life—leaders, servants, outsiders, and children. This foreshadows the radical inclusivity of the Gospel.Galatians 3:28 – “There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.”Gospel Realization:Jesus tears down every dividing wall (Ephesians 2:14) and calls all people into His Body, the Church. The Cross doesn't just reconcile us to God—it reconciles us to one another. In Jesus, there are no second-class citizens in the Kingdom. The ground at the foot of the Cross is level. 2. No More Divisions – Entering Covenant TogetherDeuteronomy 29:12–13God invites the entire assembly into a covenant He establishes, and He sustains. This mirrors how discipleship is a shared journey—never a solo mission.Acts 2:42–47 – A picture of the early Church walking out covenant community together.“They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity— all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.”Gospel Realization:Jesus is the Mediator of a better covenant (Hebrews 8:6), one sealed not by law or sacrifice but by His blood. Through His death and resurrection, we are brought into relationship with the Father and His people.Salvation isn't just personal—it places us in a family. 3. The Eternal God – For You and the FutureDeuteronomy 29:14–15God’s covenant extends to future generations, even those not yet born. This is echoed in the birth of the Church.Acts 2:39 – ““This promise is to you, to your children, and to those far away—all who have been called by the Lord our God.”Gospel Realization:Jesus secures an everlasting covenant (Hebrews 13:20). What God started with Abraham, continued with Moses, and promised through the prophets, finds its Yes and Amen in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20). Through Him, the invitation now goes to every tribe, tongue, and generation. If you’re hearing this today—you’re already included in the “far off” who have been called. Final Gospel Realization:The covenant community we see foreshadowed in Deuteronomy is ultimately fulfilled in Christ. He is the One who gathers the scattered, reconciles the divided, and creates one new humanity (Ephesians 2:15). Through His life, death, resurrection and ascension, Jesus brings us into the family of God—not just to belong, but to become His people together. Call to Action / Invitation:You weren’t meant to follow Jesus alone. He saved you into a people. So step in—commit to the community of faith, not just as a guest, but as family. The door is open because of Jesus. Will you come in? Application:Are you walking alone?Where do you truly feel you belong in the Body?Ethos Integration:Core Beliefs: Church is a community on mission.Prism of Worship: Love People—join the family of faith.Pathway: Belong—we go further together.
