Get On Your Bike - original song - ukulele demo
from John Dyhouse · host John Dyhouse
For some time this year, I have had a very dry period as far as new songs were concerned. The basic idea for this particular song came to me whilst on a daily exercise trip to my local park. My wife was busy feeding the birds and some one who was old enough to know better came speeding past on a push-bike, no real problem, plenty of room, but this phrase which became the title would not go away and I spent the whole walk around the lake composing the lyrics. Not my usual style at all, in fact well outside my comfort zone. However I persisted and when home again sat down with my trust UKE and honed the lyric somewhat, playing a different chord sequence and even modulated to a relative minor key for the chorus. More sections than I would normally use and even a pre-chorus (my first in over 250 songs). I also liked the simple decending chord riff: G-F-E7. This is a first recording for the arranger/backing musician, I am sure the end product will be much better. And after this major description (if you reached this point) I hope you like the song.
