Our special guest will be 40 year FDNY veteran Deputy Chief Jon Malkin.He was Appointed to FDNY Proby School in 1973 ..and was Assigned to Eng. 271 in Brooklyn.In 1975; Transferred to Engine 277. He was laid-off from 1975-76. In 1976 he was assigned to 211 and then he transferred back to Engine 277. In 1982 he was Promoted to Lieutenant and assigned to Battalion 18 and then assigned to Engine 42 in the Bronx. In 1987 he was promoted to Captain, and in 1988 was assigned to Engine 1. In 1993 he was promoted to Battalion Chief and assigned to the Battalion 18. In 2002, he was promoted to Deputy Chief in Division 1. He was assigned to Division 14 in 2002 and was our Deputy Chief in Queens until he retired in 2012. He operated at the scene of many historic fires in the FDNY..including the Fathers Day Fire .
