Getting Back into Study Mode 收心操

from 愛、生活、人生系列 · host 朱雯娟- Jenny Chu

Getting Back into Study Mode 收心操 Summer holidays are every student’s favorite time of the year. Late mornings, vacations, family outings, endless screen time, and a break from homework, etc. make a summer season enjoyable for everyone. But once the schools reopen, many students struggle to switch back into “study mode.” For example, waking up early feels difficult, concentration becomes weaker, and studying suddenly feels stressful again. This transition is completely normal. After two months of relaxed routines, our brains and bodies really need time to adjust back to structured learning. The good news is that with the right habits and positive mindset, teachers and students can smoothly return to academic learning without feeling stress. In fact, the new term is a fresh opportunity for us to return back to schools to get knowledge, grow, and improve on past academic performances. We should be happy and welcome the chance. One of the biggest challenges after the summer vacation is adjusting to school timings again. During holidays, teachers and students often sleep late and wake up late. Therefore, first of all, it is better that before the schools reopen, teachers and students should begin resetting their sleep schedule gradually. Sleeping earlier and waking up earlier helps our bodies adapt naturally. Having a proper morning routine also improves mental alertness throughout the day. Thus, simple activities like morning walks, stretching, reading, or reviewing notes for 15–20 minutes would always help teachers and students mentally prepare for academic training. Secondly, a bright and organized environment, either at home or at schools, creates a positive mindset for studying. Before reopening, teachers can go to school to check the classrooms and equipment in advance, and students may arrange their textbooks, notebooks, stationery, bags, and study space properly at home. Cleaning and organizing study space and materials gives us a sense of readiness to prepare for the school works. Moreover, teachers have to make plans for the lessons and students could begin with small and achievable goals, such as reading extracurricular books for 30 minutes in order to train their concentration. A timetable helps teachers and students bring discipline back into their daily routines. With consistency and time, discipline would become more automatic without effort. Thirdly, after summer holidays, maintaining healthy habits becomes essential. Physical activity improves memory, concentration, and mood. Even simple activities like cycling, walking, or playing indoor/outdoor games can refresh the mind. Many students might wait until tests or assignments begin before taking studies seriously. However, the best way to avoid academic pressure is by staying consistent from the beginning of the school year. Actually, going to the library daily, listening carefully in class, and completing homework on time helps students stay confident throughout the year. So, we do have the mindset to take action of taking activities and go to school every day. Furthermore, transitioning back to academic life is much easier when students are doing together on campus. They can reach out to classmates, friends, or study groups to catch up and share the studies. When they surround themselves with motivated peers, it helps them back into study mode easily through shared experiences. At last, getting back into study mode after summer vacation, indeed, is not about suddenly becoming perfect or studying for long hours. It is about slowly rebuilding discipline, focus, and confidence through simple daily healthy habits. As a matter of fact, teachers and students truly need time to adjust after a break, and that is completely OK. With proper planning, positive thinking, healthy routines, and consistent effort, teachers and students can successfully transition into the new academic year without stress. A new academic year is not just about scores and exams, it is an opportunity to learn, grow, explore, and become better day after day. The good and right start is very important for teachers and students. It surely can make the entire academic year more productive, balanced, and successful. Powered by Firstory Hosting
