Send us Fan MailH. J. and I discuss her choice to go for her MBA in writing at a New Age college even though it was out of her comfort zone.*******I wrote the first draft of Otherside: The Serenity when I was 15 years old. As I grew and changed as a writer and a person, the book also changed and evolved. My personal beliefs about the afterlife highly influenced the way this book was written. Though I always wanted to stay true to the original premise, I feel like my experiences going from an adolescent atheist fascinated by reincarnation, to a young adult searching for meaning, to a grad student at a Buddhist inspired college, to a follower of Jesus, influenced the final version of Otherside: The Serenity. This is a young adult fantasy book, but at the core of the book, it's a redemption story, which is something all of us - no matter what our beliefs - are searching for.I have been writing since I was nine years old, always desiring to create stories that spark emotions in the reader, and inspire them to look at life a little differently. I have a Master's degree in Writing, and I know the depths of what the human heart can handle. I have a love for stories that show the messiness of life because I've also endured that messiness. I believe that fiction often shows us the truth in better and more effective ways than actual true stories. I want to give people stories that are truthful, full of heart, and that is engaging.Social Media/Author Website:https://www.instagram.com/hj_vanderiethttps://www.hjvanderiet.comAnd the link to my book on Amazon:https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0578879492?pf_rd_r=FPYS0RBD6VE08C9ESGPV&pf_rd_p=5ae2c7f8-e0c6-4f35-9071-dc3240e894a8&pd_rd_r=71f6368a-38af-46b3-8530-18dcfc77d348&pd_rd_w=Dy0WT&pd_rd_wg=oj41O&ref_=pd_gw_unk*******If you would like to contact the show about being a guest please email us at [email protected] us on Social MediaYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX0ETs2wpOHbCuhUNr0XFTw?view_as=subscriberInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/author_d.m.needom/Twitter: https://twitter.com/DaunaD1Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/bettertopodcastwithdmneedomVideo of the interview is available here: https://youtu.be/cVfgEPrsi_4Have a question or want to be a guest on the podcast email: [email protected] see upcoming guests click here: https://www.dmneedom.com/better-topodcastSupport the podcast here: https://www.patreon.com/bettertopodcastwithdmneedom©2021 Better To...Podcast with D.
