Getting (Testosterone) Under Your Skin: Is Subcutaneous Hormone Therapy Right For You?

from The Armor Men's Health Show · host Dr. Sandeep Mistry and Donna Lee

Thanks for tuning in to the Armor Men’s Health Hour Podcast today, where we bring you the latest and greatest in urology care and the best urology humor out there. In this segment, Dr. Mistry and Donna Lee answer a listener's question about testosterone creams vs. subcutaneous delivery methods. The listener has been using six pumps of testosterone cream to try and reach the lower end of the normal range for testosterone levels. Dr. Mistry explains that anyone requiring that much cream to achieve marginal results should unquestionably find another method of hormone delivery--there are simply better ways to get your testosterone levels up. Two of those methods include subcutaneous hormone delivery: the BioTE pellets and subcutaneous injections. The BioTE pellets are inserted beneath the skin via tiny incision every 6 months. The injections can either be intramuscular and given weekly or, using a smaller needle, testosterone can be injected just below the skin either daily, every few days, or weekly to achieve similar results. No matter your hormone replacement needs, there is an ideal option for you at NAU Urology Specialists. Most importantly, full service urology practices are better able to offer holistic treatment options than "Low-T Clinics." These clinics tend to see every patient as a nail because their only tool is a hammer.
