GGC19: In Conversation with Virginia McClain(GeekGirlCon, 17th November 2019)

Over the weekend of 16th/17th November 2019, GeekGirlCon 2019 set up shop at The Conference Center in downtown Seattle, WA, celebrating women in science, tech, gaming, comics and more, working to empower women and girls to pursue their passions—whether they love science and technology, comics, literature, gaming, or anything else. "Everybody is a geek at heart, in one way or another." The Convention Collective had boots on the ground for the duration of the event with writer/correspondent Ali Raphael taking in all the sights and sounds of the show, as well as taking time to talk with some incredible creatives in attendance. In this conversation, Ali took time to have this brief chat with writer Virginia McClain about her two on-going series, VICTORIA MARMOT ("Twilight-meets-Harry-Potter's-secret-feminist-lovechild') and THE CHRONICLES OF GENSOKAI ("Song-Of-The-Lioness-meets-Avatar-The-Last-Airbender-with-a-dash-of-Shogun"), as well as what it's taken to bring the two stories to this point and what she has planned for herself, once the two series wraps up. Virginia also imparts some advice to new, independent writers which she says 'isn't necessarily for everyone'... but that's not how it comes across, in all honesty! There's some great hints and tips for writers of all styles and genres, wanting to get their books out into the world, especially when it comes to self-critique during the editing phase.
