Gathemangal, also known as Ghantakarna, is one of the ancient festivals traditionally celebrated by the Newar community in the Kathmandu Valley. According to popular belief, the festival commemorates the defeat of a demon who was said to have tormented people and spread fear in society. The festival was celebrated last month with various religious and cultural rituals.
