Yeah Yeah all right Brad what have you been playing lately dude? I own a van for a reason. Love this new pocket. Um no if you can't remember nothing I don't think it's all the new I feel I feel on us to talk about something that has not yet been discussed.

I played a bunch of the undead nightmare for redid okay which is great yeah you should play that even you should play that because you don't like redid so if I were to play that and had not played through regular redid would I be totally out of loss like control wise or I mean I think you get into it like it plays pretty much Yeah because I have it I just haven't I haven't done it. I'm not married. I just haven't. I just haven't I'm just playing redid.

It doesn't get boring after no not really initial story stuff. It's got a lot of story really divisions got lots of dialogue. I mean like the cutscenes on the writing are just good as actual redid yeah except way hamier but way more like self-serious legitimately thinking that I might just get myself finally a copy of redid and just play that and I realized that like half the fun is seeing the characters from redid and like this totally absurd premise but like I'm not going to get around to playing the full redid game anytime soon. The dialogue pretty much sells itself.

Yeah even if you don't know who's saying it it's so ridiculous. Fair enough. Yeah but what about the whole I mean because don't think seems so contrived like like yeah but it's so far yeah I guess but it's like getting those zombie things sucks so much and for them to be doing like like the announcement the mere announcement was just me just going what I know I know I feel like I feel like our zombie rage on the whole was kind of impotent because people keep doing good stuff with zombies much as we are sick of zombies people did good stuff with World War II for a long time too but that didn't make us any less sick of World War II. Those games were all the same like the Wild West Zombies is not something that you have seen a whole lot of for me.

And the action is different than like every World War II first person shooter more or less being the same thing. I guess I just know like historical zombie battle that they all try to recreate. No. When the zombies storm the beach and or would be my rage is not me but then where's where's our okay.

I want the drink. I would love it if Nazi zombies and you had to take out the Nazi zombies that had invaded France that's that's something I could get behind. I want to see zombies cast in the fucking something's attacking zombies and I want to see them be like shit like you know Allied soldiers are attacking us. Aliens versus predator versus zombies.

Yes I want to win if we lose brains. Yeah I want to see zombies defending something because there's always there's attacking something so I mean most zombies aren't capable of really defending it. They don't coordinate very well. Yeah well if I want to see it what would happen you know what I'm saying.

What happened if the zombies share it. I mean but you just want the like ghouls from Fallout then. No they're kind of. Unless what happens if zombies in a way.

What happens if they're conscious zombies. Yeah if zombies. Yeah if zombies. Yeah if zombies reproduce outside of like turning somebody.

Oh we're talking about people at fish concerts. What happens if they win? Oh god well zombies wear ponchos and are weighing up political activism and making pot cookies. Organic brains.

So that's what I'm into. So the zombies are the worst. They're the literal worst. Vegan brains.

Tofu brains. So that's really really really fun things about this is that like turning the process. You know like every zombie fiction like every zombie mythology is just a little different. Just like every vampire is a little different.

You know like every franchise. They all have like slightly different rules right. Yeah in this one like the process of getting bit turning into a zombie takes about five seconds. It's cool.

Like everybody that you ever encounter is like five seconds away from becoming a zombie. That's sort of like the 28 days later rule. Yeah as soon as you're infected you're fucking crazy. It's all just so hammy.

Yeah you have to see a lot of the lines are just ridiculous. Well I saw a couple of like the opening cutscenes when you started playing it for the quick look and I remember just just I remember as soon as the uncle character showed up like like at the beginning and everyone was wrong with the uncle. I was like okay I get the tone. Like this is literally like one of my balls hanging out of a socket.

Yeah everyone's like what's wrong with him. It's getting blood and like nobody's like making reference to any of these things. Yeah it seems like it's definitely very knowing it. It's more about sending up like the environment they've already created than it is about just like making another dam's on the game.

Absolutely but it's actually it's super impressive. Like Vinny you played all the way through it right. Does zombie thing? No no no.

You are at least acquainted with that world. Yeah yeah like how thoroughly they remake like the atmosphere of the world. Oh it feels like everything feels like how we need town. You know like all the desert birds that you would see off in the distance like they're all bats now.

Weird like even like the color of the sunlight that filters through the clouds is just like this infernal like an orange kind of color. The four horses. I don't know if Ryan's talking about something. Yeah.

The four horses and the apocalypse are in there and you can tame them. So did you play through the whole thing? Probably three or four hours into it. Seems pretty long like you know it encompasses the whole of the land that's what they were doing.

There's according to the guy there are 19 story missions. Oh my long cutscenes dialogue and like an actual storyline progression and there's much of side quests. Um there's all the weird stuff that populate the world with like there's unicorns and chupacabra in Mexico. Sasquatch.

Well no I'm to understand that unicorns originated in Mexico. Oh of course yeah. Are they zombie unicorns? I haven't seen one yet.

Okay. Yeah. I have a fiery horse at the moment. That's pretty cool.

I got it. I should play it. It's so much to play. There are a lot of things to play.

Pretty opportune timing that rockstar would give you a reason to play more red to right around the time the game of the year decisions are starting to be made. You don't think they calculated that decision at all. They don't remember how much they also did release it around Halloween which is not a bad idea. Vinnie how about you?

What have I been playing? Yeah. I played majority. I be fable three.

Uh huh. Uh how'd that turn out for you? That turned out well for everybody involved. You everybody has lived happily ever after.

Thanks in no small part to Brad's warning but hey heads up. Something's gonna happen at some point in that game that you're gonna be like damn that happened. So the entire time I was like I think this must be what he's talking about. You were able to intuit what it was right?

That's pretty sure and part of it was just the way I played games where it's like I very completionist at every step of the way so I would not move on until I had very little thing. Right. Like I'm the same way but the key difference is that you went and did it as soon as you could. Yeah.

And I kept putting it off. He's right. Brad is totally right. There's a point in that game which they fuck over the player which they without warning they basically shift gears and it's like you're in the end game now.

It's like wait I didn't I need to do this thing before the end game started. It's like too late. Sorry. You can't go back.

Moreover they give you every impression leading up to that you're gonna have way more time to do the stuff you need to do than you actually have. Yeah. It's it's malicious. It's not it's well.

Honestly I think it's just sloppy design. Yeah. I don't think they were maliciously trying to find me. Do you think maybe some stuff got cut out of that that sequence just because the way that the countdown works out very much.

So are we just going to like explicitly. Just like create a spoiler break right here. I can say without saying spoiler there's a there's a countdown clock at some point that does not run at a regiment of pace. It's random.

It looks like it does at first. But it's well yeah but by nature then it becomes like totally skips like let's say you have 60 seconds it's like 60 50 40. All right you're done. Wait what are you talking about?

I guess about two thirds of the way yeah about a regular interval and all of a sudden the last third it completely skips and if you haven't taken careful that shit at it you don't get to and once you get to that last day of the countdown thing the where it spawns you to go do the last like the last quest or whatever you run by the room in which the activity that needs to take place would happen but the fucking door is locked that's literally go right by the thing you need to do but you can't get in there and do it before you go finish the game and it fucks everything up and it's a bummer because that then you know that game C auto saves on top of itself right yeah so it's done there's pretty much nothing you can do and really it's you're talking about the fit of the world at this point like no small term yeah not like that's it not just in terms of the fiction but in terms of the clarity of the game after you finish it's kind of a big bummer so I did everything I was like all right great it's all worked out for everybody and I just got my angel wings and everybody was psyched and I know there's probably not going to go back and play it as much as I did fable to I still think fable to is probably the better game in that series and it's probably indicative of me finishing that game and not really wanting to play it anymore kind of how much and looking at how much I play fable to like where those kind of fall yeah yeah I'm really more of a fable pub games myself that's that's where I got on this tower in the lexicon of the fable universe that's really I think the superior entry yeah that's yeah so fable fable three is what I played so been a lot of time there yeah you want some hours you think you spent uh I am one they counted like days and hours so I am a day in 14 hours oh yeah what yeah well I'd sell you know there's a part in the game where you're like hey I it would benefit me to sit around and not really advance a lot of money coming in for a bit and so I went and I found like all the keys and gnomes and whatever oh yeah I had to kill some time yeah uh oh god I wish we could I mean that's all I really need to say yeah there's a lot of other really fucked up stuff that we have instead about that game yeah I'll go back and say how weird the framerate is so weird spoiler so weird just the way that framerate just turns into slow motion like yeah it's not that the framerate drops is that the whole game slows down like old SNES game yeah but that's pretty much where I spent the majority of my weekend uh game was I didn't really touch anything else Alex uh well let's see last week I spent a bunch of time playing gold nigh yeah for the Wii uh which surprised me to no end in terms of how not suck as it was yeah I mean that conceptually sounds on paper it's the worst fucking idea ever come on no it is on paper it sounds like crazy businessman doing crew remember the E.A. gold nigh right does anyone remember that besides me rogue agent yeah I remember that shit wreck that game was a total travesty and it wasn't I mean great it was not a gold my remake it was like their weird spiritual secret yeah this one with something that said gold nigh on it yeah this is actually like trying to sort of take the pace and the the basic core story of gold nigh and redo it for a modern age and with you know daniel craig's weird fucking you know giant ear to face all over it it's like chrome magnum god damn it if he isn't an ugly ass dude but people I think he's really attractive man in real life it's just that I have virtual daniel craig always looks mess up I've seen more virtual daniel craig than real daniel craig he looks like a rugby player that's been put through a ringer that's sexy like like someone has actually beaten up an already ugly rugby player it's rough and tumble man that's james mom more physical I I'm just saying I think daniel craig is ugly ass man but so more to the point uh they turn it they turn bond from being you know the sort of you know the sort of you know cheeky swab dude that prepares rosin once in the time to the more aggressively murderous spawn that we have now rooting um and you know they changed elton to the story like you know zenya on top is nowhere near the crazy you know sort of sex bot character that she was in the movie she's more of like a you know just sort of generic badass and she killed people with her legs uh there well that never happened in the game either so I don't uh but but the thing is it's this like the game is this incredibly it almost an explicably good mix of sort of old school shooter and modern sensibility yeah like they made a game that feels like gold nigh but doesn't feel hell of antiquated right which is not something that I ever thought some would be able to toe the line on ever on any game like that yeah I was definitely one of the when I played at e3 it was a very pleasant surprise yeah oh just like oh wow like this isn't you didn't just try to duplicate the feel of gold nigh which doesn't play in the same age yeah they set out to make a modern feeling game and and the thing is they do capture the feel of gold nigh but like they they make the multiplayer and things like that compelling to someone who has only played shooters in like the last five years yeah like they do enough with it to make it fun would it be just as good if it had nothing to do with gold nighs or the mechanics i think it would make a little less contextual sense if it didn't have the gold nigh name on it like especially like if if you if you knew what like if you didn't play shooters for years and years and you played a game like that you would not understand why someone would make that game and and like and make it feel like that now yeah because it it does have that sort of like you know old school kind of mentality to it but at the same time you know it having the gold nigh remake sort of attached to it actually isn't like an encumbrance it actually feels like okay it's why this all this game makes sense how's the online that because it's good we not necessarily known for amazing online shooters so here's the thing i mean like like all we shoot and like all we online games like there are annoying unnecessary barriers to entry like getting into a game with your friends is not as easy as it should be you can't just create a like a player match with people on your friends list you have to like you can only get three of your friends get to join a party with you and then you have to go get into a match with other people it's like a stupid pain in the ass thing that should not exist by the same token if you just want to jump in and play against people match making is super easy and it works really well and the online is not laggy at all so i was i was pleasantly surprised by that otherwise a lot of connect stuff yeah like i spent a lot of time right yeah remember that thing yes maybe this is the time in the podcast where we should discuss the connects right um so i played a decent amount of i mean i played a bunch of connected ventures and i played a decent amount of connectimals enough to know that we probably don't need to review that game i think that is it's out of our wheelhouse i i well okay are you over the age of five or like you know or not like under the age of spinster who is so obsessed with pat so that you know you will play anything that has cats in it i might know it yeah uh i fit one of those two skittles did i see you on my little game yeah i think you did i think you did yeah yeah connectimals is is barely a game i mean it's it's a really it's a lot of really cute cat animation sort of very loosely wrapped in a structure yeah god damn there's a there's like the dude without a bullet who'd narrate that god damn it well he please shut up holy cow he's never really put me off of that game watching watching Ryan play it when we were doing all that footage of it just doesn't stop ever yeah it made me seem like there was so much more going on though like wow i was just gonna like open up into some crazy narrative adventure and it's just like oh here's the other thing that was really kind of bummer he sounds like razz from psychonauts and like i don't know if it is a voice actor but that's all i could hear yeah was uh he's like razz is really annoying cousin that got the shit beat out of him in school like all the time but dude what is that thing anyway it's like a mere cat with wings so it is basically it looks like a cat turned that came alive and she's like just talking to you i don't know why that happened once man it's trip so annoying i don't know why that thing exists i don't know why lemurs run a shop i don't know why the why there are bunnies all the island but they they can't do anything apparently why are there bunnies expansion why are there five catcubs on that island but they've been cubs for 200 years according to the myth of the end you find out there's all those cubs are even there are there are other people who died there are five cats they're all cats they're all cats they're all cats yeah the game is all cats let's go these are cats dude i like cats i'm a cat person even i think that's a ridiculous uh it just seemed like it was you know intense moments of virtual petting and and tech demo i don't i don't think that it's not the kind of virtual petting i'm looking for really uh mixed in with like bad throw stuff at stuff mechanics the way they make you sit around in like each little hub world and like do these stupid ass like trick sessions with the cats and like fuck with them for a while before you can unlock the next like stupid ass mini game mmm again it's barely a game what do you name a cat Vladimir okay does it ever come to you any when you call is that work yeah no recognize the voice command so i mean it works it works but you know i mean theoretically so does communism so i mean it's like on set for that i'm here yeah so it's like i'm saying i'm saying not so much so it not not really for people whose attention stands michael outside of throwing stuff and saying Vladimir if you bought a connect and you have a child and you need to distract them and they like you fuzzy things then sure otherwise not so much your keys are not available why why was this not a vvipaniata game it does have kind of a series it has some elements of vvipaniata why did they go make rare do a sports game also i was like i was going through the connects uh or through like the avatar sore and through like the connect calibration stuff and a lot of that music sounds like it fell out of vvipaniata and i was I got super bummed out. Yeah super bummed out. What if instead of a cat it was a fudge hog exactly if it was a virtual fudge hog And Vladimir I was like the environmental graphics already kind of like actually those have kind of a similar aesthetic Yeah, they could find a way to combine the animals of you piñata and the adorable ass faces the cats make in that game It that would be my cat in it like straight up like that would I would be all over that Can I kill her out right there?

I just got I got and after hearing that stuff and thinking about you piñata I got really bummed out because I was like man They should make the opinion on three and I sat there for another 90 seconds or so went but no one would buy it Yeah, I should make it. Yeah, I should make it for you and no one else Yeah, I mean I didn't even play all the way through you can barely play David in on it too. It was basically an expansion pack Right. Yeah, it's like so goddamn.

It's like there's been too stressful for me I just can't deal with them. People on the other two seem like it was it was more stressful. Yeah It's really cute bouncing between the different guys. Yeah I got a little intense.

So can I back up and ask you how your overall connect experience in your apartment? I'm going to tie that to my Connect Adventures discussion, which is to say that So I play a lot of Connect Adventures. Obviously that's a pack-in game It's not something you have to go by you just get if you buy this by the damn thing Yeah, it's probably the best demonstration of the technology other than you know Like as far as like the basic mini-game collection goes There's a bunch of mini-game collections for that thing now. Yeah, I Didn't run into that many problems as far as my room goes I bumped into my couch occasionally because I'm just on the teetering edge between the seven foot and eight foot radius You have a coffee tail or anything I was able to move that out of the way So I was fine But like my couch there's nowhere I can put it and there's and my living room's kind of the weird angle to where I can't really like Like there's stuff against the wall and the TV sort in the corner So it's like there's not there are limits So everyone's in a while especially when I was doing the stupid like leak plugging mini-game It would have me to move my foot somewhere where literally I could not move it right and No matter like adjusting the room or the camera or anything would allow that so which had already moved your coffee table I already put my whole here and rearranging the living room for yeah I'd already I'd already done about as much as I could there Yeah, I'm not gonna spend too much time talking about that game because it just is what it is But I mean it's like hey big games, you know here's the technology Enjoy some of them are fun most of them not and you're like okay Well, I have this I'll play this for a while and then when actual games are coming up in that system Then maybe I'll I probably remember it ever again Any more living statues I got like six five or six are they all as good as that first one no No, no them or ever well there is one where you're standing inside of sharks mouth for no reason okay That was a weird one Most of them yeah None of them are as adorable as the horrible fucking abominations that you and worry or even Ryan discovered the first time around yeah That's the first one you unlock and it's definitely like throwing you for a loop You're like what what is this I agree?

Why am I what okay? I'll just shout them would you agree with me? That feels like it's from a totally different game kind of like why is this here yeah? Yeah, and those those little guys aren't found anywhere else in the game right now.

So here's a couple of There's nothing sash you but what there's like this whole weird like adventure team boy scout theme to the game right? And then these horrible weird abominations start appearing out of nowhere as rewards You know I don't the two things do not get together that whole game feels like it was all the stuff They came up with while they were testing the thing out and then we made it and they was just like well We could fit it together like this because I mean that ricochet stuff all the that was like the first thing they were showing Yeah, you know all the ball bouncing crap, so it's you know it here's what I'm gonna say about connect right now And you know I'm only played like a little bit of dance intro and you know that does seem like the most game of any of the game So far for that thing. I don't like it I think the connect is a really interesting idea. I think that has a lot of technology built into it That is really interesting.

I think that at this point almost nobody has figured out what that thing is useful for the launch lineup is super depressing It's really bad. Well, it's not even that it's bad. It's just it is unimaginative. Yeah, everyone sat down and said well This is like a we thing right so we're gonna make our crap we games Yeah, and then so that raises the question like Alex you said you're talking about coming back to connect when they make real games for it Yeah, shouldn't that be more of an if they make real games for it?

Maybe that's I mean that's fair I mean I think you have to see what I mean Do you think they feel responsible at all for making games and people like us or like that's certainly not the people they are marketing that thing? Yeah, I don't know But at the same time like if their idea of marketing to the masses is to put out a bunch of like kind of half-assed I'm eating in collections like that's not gonna hit for them either No, so it's less about appealing to us and more about like are they gonna go and actually do the stuff right or is it just gonna be But who's definitely right or we using here like what you want to see on that thing? That's what I want to see you know I think so my connectibles could be the way to go if they make it better and deeper and more interesting so if they Put the other right well, okay, but like a motion sports, you know look at look at connect sports look at connect adventures Like look at the fact there that are mini game collections and game parties come out this year And have the same words in the title. Yes sports.

Hmm. This game party actually like on the release. Yeah game party in motion It's coming out in like two weeks. We were joking about fact that there would be a game party So they're totally looking at it's there is so you know It's third parties are looking at this thing and saying like all right great We can we know how to make kind of half-assed mini game collections Let's just make another one of those and that's not gonna be it.

I mean the connection has a lot of potential You know it is interesting it's really interesting technology But if all they're gonna do is make games that would actually probably play better on a we yeah Fuck yeah, totally. Do you think Microsoft needs to be more selective like I feel like the worst thing that can happen is all the shuffle Where it comes out and it's basically the you see those what are the purple boxes right? Yeah On the shot and you just ignore it because you know it is big buck hunter like No, or like trash, you know whatever it was like all those like weird we games that you just walk by and like what the fuck who don't Fuck let somebody make I hope that they eventually do kind of clamp down on it But you certainly think they can't be choosy at launch because like you want to put out a thing for a thing great awesome great Well, here's here's here's my my clarification to I don't like it Simon is that when I'm playing a game I want to get into that game with the least amount of Hoops and like effort as possible unless it's something. I'm really really invested in like the only reason I bother to plug in my rock band drums because I really like drumming Yeah, and that's really fun And it's worth the effort for me to play plug in that weird big-ass controller that I have and do what I need to do With connect One I still can't get the goddamn face ID thing to work right it can't even sign in my profile on a man Because it just can't find my face for whatever reason.

I don't know what that is I know I'm white I maybe see through a little bit I don't know but more the point there is nothing about anything I've played for connect And I mean, you know, I like damn central but I'm not a dancing gang guy and it's not something I'm gonna play actively for myself because it's not what I do There has been nothing for connect that makes me want to stand the fuck up when I play video games Mm-hmm like why when I said when I play game I want to sit there I'm a grammar controller turn on the system and just play something and not have to like move my like not really think about it I'm just gonna do what I'm doing yeah and connect is at this point I mean even with the Wii it's like with emotion stuff like I don't really have to think that much about when I'm playing Wii games I'm just kind of like, you know likes waggling and still sort of sitting there That's a certain thing to my thing even the move like to a degree is the same thing I mean granted don't really any move games. I want to play but it's it still feels like more like hey This is a device that I can play when I'm when I feel like playing a game I mean or you're plugging in the classic controller. Yeah, exactly It's like with connect. It's like everything is a goddamn.

It's just it's just overly an effort And I have like pull your coffee table out of the way just to it It's literally a system that requires you to rearrange your living room is insane. Yeah, it is insane So it's incredible to me that it made it into the quick-star guide like little graphic of the guy pushing coffee table out of the way Yeah, exactly these sanctions methods to prepare Oh, yeah, you got push all this crap out of your first or anyone get the take a break message. Yeah, yeah, like it's like a man I think it's I think it's on an hour time. Yeah.

It's just like every hour. It's like hey You should take a break. Yeah as if to say hey fatty. You're not ready to play games like this right now relax We're speaking of hour time right there I believe it was or for me to seem like under an hour before the first video of dad whacking his son in the face Yeah, yeah, I can't hit the internet well didn't like Will's wife accidentally injured I'm playing a couch for a minute.

So I mean of course right is not right even out of this thing Yeah, I mean I definitely like tweak something in my knee when I was like trying to do like jump up and down and crouch it And connect adventures like something something hurts for you. I've not had any I've not had any trouble like that I've not run into any kind of physical issues or anything that yeah All your physical issues come from Apple these at this point. So yeah, that's a whole story Here's the thing about connected I was not expecting it's kind of the opposite of what I expected because this was the reason I was gonna buy a connect was because I thought the interface stuff was really cool And now it seems like navigating the menus with the connect is the slowest goddamn thing you could possibly feel like they threw that in there Cuz it was like oh well I guess we should provide a way for people to do this without picking up a controller Like the E3 press conference like that was the shit they were touting it's like look It's such an easy ass way like navigate easy like with that's a mind standpoint But it takes five times from the gas for it's not even that bad in game stuff You gotta hold over the hub up and then like hold over something watch a tick down right and then like go into the next thing And then are you sure and it's like god damn it like yeah like hold it over there wait for it to tick down again And be like yeah, I'm sure and like you know sometimes it was a studio something when we're doing that day of the connect stuff It seemed like you even had to spend time just finding you know like like relatively hard The thing was losing my hand a lot again I think it might be some of our translucent qualities But like it just doesn't seem like it knows like even when I'm doing the 45 degree angle for the pause Anything you just can't find my damn arm just some of that and that gives me hope because that's something they can refine That's you know that's a software thing that's a developer's will get more used to I think dance world does a good job with interface Yeah, that's pretty easy to do you're not holding over stuff to do things It's it's those those kind of games are alright with it too Like when you were when you bypass that tutorial screen by miming the actions on it just like accidentally pick you up and Like skip like something that's weird and it just makes you my patience level for that was getting really You know that stuff just feels like first-generation was that they'll they'll I don't figure out if they keep at it long enough they'll eventually figure it out But yeah, so I woke up Saturday morning and realize you know what these connect games are not gonna review themselves That's right and I need to be able to play them at home. It's another thing about connect.

They're not reviewing themselves They're just sitting there. Yeah, what the fuck is that really oh Microsoft? So I was like alright I gotta go I gotta turn this home office into a place where I can do this stuff So I went bought TV which get what I got a Samsung like it does 3d and led the plasma That's not super fast the big glasses that sink in yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah Well, normally you pay for that stuff, but now it's like I bought the TV with a starter kit that give you two sets of glasses and like a blue ray with a bunch of like garbage documentaries on it About pharaohs are they in 3d so yeah, they are but I have not seen any 3d on that TV yet because I just so first I decided well I'll take this 3d TV and put it in where my old TV wasn't my bedroom So I can watch like SPM 3d and all this other crap So I hook it all up and none of it works like none of the 3d works because my receiver can't do 3d What so you need to be able to pass through you need a newer receiver that can handle that so that point I said fuck all this Took the TV swapping back and then through the 3d TV in in my spare room And I currently have it sitting on top of a tub of dreamcast games in my DJ hero renegade light case Specifically just to set it up so I can play some dance central That whole thing has just been ordeal, but whatever it's all set up now and I'll eventually get a TV stand and the more permanent Set up in there, but you know if you set up a room specifically for that stuff and don't have anything else in that room That thing works fine. Yeah, was it okay?

Yeah, all right. So if you live in empty warehouse Yeah, exactly if you have an empty room you can devote to playing a series of games that most of which you would not necessarily want to play It's great. Well, the part in dwellers of the world that you are stoked about this You know, it's targeting a bunch of kids. I mean your kids probably got room so the kid out of the room Yeah, it's a good job.

Yeah, yeah Some of the family change come on put it in your day room. Yeah, I don't have room for it I don't think I was doing kind of the pacing measuring in my apartment in yeah, it's a lot to ask I think that's gonna be the biggest I got that wall melt. Oh, right? Have you seen that thing?

Yeah, I've mounted it over the TV on the wall and stood on the couch. I think I Would be okay, so I tried playing standing on my bed and it wasn't happening really yeah that camera is super wide angle though When you see the view from that thing that's pretty amazing If any game console technology requires a wall mount I'm off the ship Oh, do they have one yeah, we were talking about it for a day of 2010 have a class TV Do not let you put this on top of it The TV mount that has screw, you know, it's legs that go down the back of TV that you're supposed to screw into like the mounting holes But it's apparently not made for big is a 15 inch TV. It's not really that big in the grand scheme of things This was not that doesn't reach the fucking holes. So I'm like, okay.

Well, I guess I'm double screwed Luckily, I have the TV kind of in a closet that took the doors off of there's a top shelf in the closet It's just put it up there. It's maybe a little higher than it should be but it's it hasn't really been an issue Yeah, so many things you have to do just to get it set up properly and you know right now most of the games aren't worth it Like I really think people should should pass on this thing for now And I think some of the games are cool. I think your shapes really need a think down central's neat I think that you know even my connect sports is cool Connected ventures, you know, it is what it is Sometimes like worth seeing if you're gonna get one of those things for like down central or for like call it right now Connect sports or motion sports. That's a tough.

This is this is the question that people have been really wondering about dude Of course it is I know they have a couple weird ones. I don't know. I don't think any casual humans worked on motion sports I think they had some algorithm whopper made made motion towards push the buttons on it. Yeah, but they had no please Is there anything on the horizon for connect?

Yeah, like game party in motion and I mean there's nothing else back at TGS They are doing a steel battalion game. They're grasshoppers doing a game. Yeah A couple of different like horror thing in the game. Yeah, the panzer dragon guy.

Yeah, I'm kind of interesting project Draco But I mean I'm eating this basically yeah It works so well, so here's the kind of the same time like you came back from that event saying that there was like full second delay on Stuff like fighters on caged and yeah, the final version is not like that really it's not a full It's there's a noticeable There is no exactly but you came back talking the whole game I didn't necessarily feel like the input lag was what made that game I think a lot of early on developments kit stuff for connect was pretty laggy and broken I mean, I don't think I'm giving away any like big trade secrets here anything But everyone I was at harmonics and we were messing around with connect early on like you know the technology was a little Back to begin with yeah, but I mean that's the same with all early console technologies early stuff you get toolkit wise is usually kind of broken Yeah, it's the same reason why you have people saying like oh you have to be standing up This is the library side of all yet to point where you can use it Yeah, so as far as challenge even specifically goes I think PlayStation move will probably be the best way to play that game Yeah, I don't know if that we even know if that sports going in or not like I could I don't know I can see Microsoft like Lying down the exclusive motion control on that game or something I don't know they've said if it was gonna have no support like I mean that thing has proven one to one precision out of the box Yeah, that's the way going like that. Yeah, it's kind of one a I want to see better things come out for connect But I feel like a jerk is I'm not willing to buy it right now to make better things come out for it Like I kind of they need to install base right so that's okay. We bought four Part do you want the one that's in my apartment right now cuz I don't need it for a while Yeah, no like I said, it's nothing I could do with it. Yeah, it's kind of locks me out and I You could use it for voice chat.

That's kind of what I've been doing I played cotan over the weekend and I used it for voice You know the way you seem terrible It's a lot clearer or straight up like actual like dashboard level party chat. Yeah. Yeah, really yeah You just for all your all your in-game chat. Now here's the tragedy.

I got him in the bucket Here's here's the offer tragedy of that is that there's no easy mute for that thing So if you're just like say for instance like saying really cute things to your cat while you're playing video games people hear you But they also hear the game being played in the background That's the thing is supposed to probably don't sound is making a cancel. No, here's the thing is when you set up the the tune early on It does the ambient background noise and it gets your speakers to figure out like what the game noise level typically is Oh, right, right? So when I was playing for instance cotan The only time it was picking it up on the speakers was when like the big sound effects would come in like the background music and everything else was not actually like being picked up by the mic people saying something like Hey, I turned your shirt down.

No, because nobody fucking actually uses voice chat when they're playing like cotan You know four years after it came out next box live, right? So, you know, I'm the only asshole doing that still um, but yeah I mean that's thing is actually it's kind of useful for that stuff and the voice What are people are gonna get that thing and set it all up and then not realize that it does that and just playing games and Well, I mean it tests all the voice stuff like right away It does and you turn it on for chat or whatever, but you know, it's not necessarily clear that Game yeah, so what are you how do people either put all the headset or just talk freely not thinking that there's Also, I'm gonna throw this out there Do you think the fact that the camera sort of is the way it is like where it won't really show you like you Except like in very specific situations is a reaction to all the dong that you would see when the red the last Xbox camera came around No, I think it's more than just the they're showing you what's being picked up by that infrared stuff, right? Not the not the regular camera because the infrared camera is what's really doing the heavy Right on that tech so I think that's more of they're only taking it They're only using the regular camera for like face recognition and face recognition and you doing stupid jumping connect adventures and taking photos of for no reason And that Konami dance game a lot of good. Yeah, and I guess a lot of good footage or a lot of good photos of me playing Dancentral taken over yes.

Yes, I'm styled and so how do you feel about dance at all at this point? I like it. It's it's definitely a first year music product. It's like I like it hard here a one type thing Yeah, yeah, it's like here's a list of songs You can dance to them if you like and they've locked up a lot of the progression which I guess makes some sense because that's a content You have yeah, you kind of a lot of it away So it's like you can't do the hard version of a dance until you've gotten three stars on medium And you can't do the medium version of a dance until you've gotten three stars on easy Every song or every song Wow, it also is a first-year game.

You don't want to intimidate people by like letting them get in over their heads too early Yeah, maybe yeah slowly ramp up the difficult. Yeah. Yeah, that is the case But it doesn't necessarily hold your hand and give you like a clear progression I feel like they could have done that a bit better instead It's just like it's a menu and it's up to you to pick it and you know You kind of inherently understand that the easier songs are gonna be near the top of the list because they do have a difficulty rating Right, but it's it's not necessarily like hey now you try this like hey, maybe now you're ready for this It's more just go. I don't know dance.

I bought the lady sovereign song. That was the right thing to do. Yeah, that's not like that song Yeah, that game works like that's that's the that's the best thing about it is that it just feels well made It feels smart and dysfunctional. I mean, you know, whatever any opinion I have that game is going to be inherently colored by you know things But the thing I will say about about from what I played a dance central versus other stuff Is that it seems like the one that actually tried to think outside the basic confines of what everyone else was thinking when it came to Game design for the connect.

Yeah, like it doesn't feel like the mechanics of it don't feel like the easy answer Yes, as far as making a dance game for the connect goes, right? Yeah, so you know that I get credit for yeah, and you know like the moves aren't great in a lot of cases You know you kind of feel like you're dancing like if you were 10 Yeah, though I did eventually a point right could do a jazz square That but yeah, I Didn't go through the entire progression or anything I worked my way through the first tier on the part basically I think I think that game won't really catch on until it allows you to spin it like a helicopter That is that is when it will have come into its own. Yeah, basically I don't know if the SDK has such advanced t-shirt tracking. I know it's really important to Pick it up once you've done that that's fine Yeah, so yeah, I don't know we play all that stuff last week and That's what we think of it now It's it is a device waiting for someone to figure it out Yeah, I hate to sound like I'm poo-pooing and being like a big downer on the connect But I also feel like it's I don't know what the expectation was and so I feel like my expectation has kind of been met So I don't feel like I'm severely disappointed.

Yeah, I'm just like it's functional Yeah, a lot of the software is junk if I had bought into what the Microsoft conference told me that thing was going to be yeah I would I would be raging right now I'm scanning your skateboard in yeah, like this year conference or the last year conference because last year's was the ridiculous Like that I mean my god a skateboard I'm saying the debut conference and the thing that I'm saying is that I didn't buy into that one bit I like I tempered my expectations because like there's no way they're gonna have any other shit at launch not a chance So I don't know but I if I had seen that and really believe that's what connect was going to be I it would have been like Learning Santa Claus didn't exist. Yeah, I almost just wish Microsoft had I'm an idiot to say this of course. They're not going to at least just come out and be like this frickets We're gonna put it in a big yeah, we're gonna put it in a big white box with like candy cane or like candy on it And stuff like this is like a mom's or whatever. Yeah, like we like it's like the captain crunch on it And like this is for you of course you're gonna get bored with it This is like a slow kid.

He's loving the connectable. He loves this stuff. It's gonna be like what am I? It's but why am I?

Yeah, because it's not for you idiot It's for this little kid and it's for like the dad and the little kid to play together and like go play here's a war Yeah, it's just so weird that this thing exists on the system where otherwise if you don't have to connect you or change Solid people in half well like that's you know, that's just them covering their base That's not finally having something that they can use to directly get the same reason why the movie exists So now that they can compete on that playing field with Nintendo of course They both did it in the year where people realize they don't want to do that stuff And that's what I'm saying, you know, they kind of miss the boat completely. It's not the can they it's that no one wants it anymore Well more to the point I mean I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with any console trying to appeal to a mass audience because the whole point of This generation of gaming as far as I can tell is that everybody wants their box to be the one media device, you know In front of the TV like with all the Netflix shit and like all the other streaming stuff and like all the other dumb-ass media that people have like funneled into Those consoles that's what everyone wants and the motion thing is just sort of an extension of that because that's you know Was the wheeze appeal and like you said it's just too fucking late for it It was another checkbox on the list of required features It's like everyone who bought a Wii to play Wii sports on it already did that and they're kind of done So for stuff like the connect and the move to succeed They need to go as far outside that as possible They have to show people that like that device is actually something kind of revolutionary and crazy versus like hey Remember that thing you bought like three years ago, right? On sale, but it's kind of better. I mean it's got kind of better.

It's kind of better Yeah, like the move is better than the Wii motion plus Oh, no the fidelity is better and you know, it's on system It has like better graphics, but that doesn't mean they're gonna out design Nintendo one games Most of the buy-in is way higher because you have to buy a 360 and then you have to buy the you know Can I have three and yeah, yeah, or the move and it's just it's expensive It's totally it's an expensive buy-in figure that you know, you already have a ps3, but you know your kids can't play it now They can you know you and actually well It's maybe it's a little even unfair to say that about the ps3 because it seems like out of all the motion stuff Their games have been the least pandering or at least targeted They're making the best effort to make like what we would do a real video game It's like here's motion controls for for people actually like they've also As far as I can tell the least advertised and the least like noteworthy like no I barely under like remember what any of the moves like launch line of was it sports champions and Yeah, yeah, I think there's that golf game. There was the shoot I guess the shoot there's the fight the fight just coming out this week I mean they certainly got their share of like we shovel where yeah Yeah, but you can also play kills on three and so come forward with it right, but I just read the questions becomes like What do you want to you know? We'll see how it's really one-to-one tracking and actually like works well Then yes, but I play so calm with the move like it was cool It works, but you know, it's you know, I wouldn't necessarily replace it to a shocker you with it and sure and I think that's actually basically capable of doing any of that stuff in in game genres that are actually popular people play games Certainly not yet. I mean not it's gonna take people a long time to like in enough software updates I don't think I don't think we'll ever see a point where it's like you're playing Gears 3 with connect only I think at best for those types of games.

You'll see people shoehorn in a couple of connect things right? Well, they've been talking about like blob grenades or solution camera to taunt They're like fable three is this example because they have said like they're gonna add support right so having played much Fable three like what do you guys think the connect with the use expressions? Like only expressions? What in the In Halo is a key bag with the connect you already have to hold down the button and watch it fill up like it was a connect thing I don't think I'm fable to though.

Yeah, I don't think I'm testing that stuff. I'm almost exactly like all this Yeah, but I mean you did that in fable two confirm choices I bet there's yeah totally stuff that is some kind of navigation But also just like what it was all the net all the UI stuff was all the map and weapons Oh, dude Just like make a sword motion to change weapons or connect map. Yeah, what exactly like what if it was all that? Oh, it'd be crazy luck that would you have a back button an entire D-pad going unused?

Yeah, well the D-pad is like how you use your potions like when they think you need even think you want Not like I came hard enough to actually need a lot of ops. Maybe they'll be voice-man to me. See you that game's cool Like I don't you know, I don't mean to surprise you but the ladies call duty game is pretty good now This is a tri-art call duty game Yeah, so you know some people might have some trepidation about that just because I mean not that they make terrible games But it's like it's always like a little bit different and not necessarily people have taken to viewing the tri-art games It's like the off year for that series right are the year now like there.

Yeah, they're there's the main event No, I guess I kind of have to be well We don't know enough about it what in the current status of infinity war is to really say that Yeah, the number of key people that have left there seems I will I will eat my hat I don't even have a hat on yeah, if infinity war ships call duty game next year. Have I ever seen you wear a hat? I've seen you wear a hat. I've ever seen where I have Brad Oh You mean it's a bargain.

No, I would love to see you I'm going to go and wextree wextree we all about it and it kind of sucks So the you get the impression playing black ops that track went in feeling like that something to prove and the list of things that are in This game is intense and long Just like features wise you like man. They really put a lot into this game. What's surprising on the list? Well, it's like so they added like a whole theater mode and user file share sort of the halo type stuff Yeah, and you can make custom game types It's not quite as deep as the halo stuff is but you know if you want to do all pistols You know like stuff like that you can set up private games with all those sorts of options They've got a combat training mode in there.

We can play multiplayer against bots They've got the whole wager match thing where you it's like basically six player death match like a basically a whole new set of online modes They still have zombies and they've got the campaign Thank God in a lot of ways the campaign is probably one of the most ambitious things that has been done with Call of Duty since Call of Duty 4 But you know ambition doesn't always directly translate into quality and sure enough like that the campaign definitely has its faults So that's kind of the thing with the game it does a lot but enough of it You're kind of like I don't know that I would probably still rather play modern work or two That's not to be playing modern warfare to multiplayer or should that should be the world move on well That's the that's the catch I guess is that you know I'm kind of also done with all the modern warfare to match right so you know the multiplayer is basically the same You know there's some differences with the way that you kind of control and feel whatever there's RC car Yeah, totally so they took out the nuke they put in dogs which was in world at war Guys we do that's you totally get the impression every step of the way This is what we do it's to a fault almost like I would rather seen spec ops in this game than then zombies But no like this game has story elements from world world in it That's gonna get picks up from like their version of the Call of Duty universe. Yeah, it's not got the price But res not was totally in the game. That's fantastic But it's the same thing as Captain Price where it's like a different character every time or is he actually like this is actually Like an aged version of this is like their continuation of a story like a narrative that's So they're trying to construct a coherent time right for their universe. Yeah, it's weird because it's like for their version of the universe over two Yeah, so it's like now, you know Modern warfare to at elements, you know carrying forward from from Call of Duty or it's just kind of it's kind of a weird But it makes me want to go play world at war and now this you feel like you don't need to do that You feel like it's all one universe though.

Do you think that no no? I guess it's hard to say it could be there's no reason why there's no overlapping time period Yeah, they haven't overlapped and I kind of like the idea that all this crazy shit is coming down in the same world Yeah, so here's how kind of like weird this has gotten I had a conversation with my dad asking me a black office coming out Yeah, it's coming out. He's like a system. That's the modern warfare, you know series, right?

I was like, yeah, yeah, it's like a Like I was like, it's like it's like it's a college duty to think wait is it modern warfare is a color duty I was like wait, do you know that there's a difference? He was like, yeah, it's just a world of war one There's a modern warfare one. I want the modern warfare one. I was like, oh, I can't actually explain the sole story to you But it's not but you'll be fine And it's weird that he would even like make I did he just not like world of war he he knew that there was a distant They were different right aside from just being like different games that there was he liked world at war But he liked modern warfare like the story and the whole thing The gameplay actually said a lot better now.

It's like well, that's crazy like you know Obviously somebody does not play games many hours a day like a once a month kind of the gamer You mean not playing 80 to 90 hours a week like like Rick Tello No, I didn't know my god, but she's like that's not like the worst idea ever It's just like having to sit there and be like like you're probably fine, but like good on you for like calling this thing She's on that but like you'll be okay. Like I'm sure this game is fine You know, it's gonna continue the call of duty series But like he wanted his modern warfare the value the action is a lot closer to world of or than his modern warfare to I think I mean, I don't know I couldn't even really make that distinction And the fact that he was like I want my more I don't want Call of Duty was kind of a shock to me and like I kind of sit down and tell you the sole story But you can tell you what you want to hear you don't need to know you don't need to know Yeah, the story is probably the biggest departure for this game compared to the Call of Duty games before it It's a you know the previous games did a lot of stuff where they're like jumping back and forth between characters like almost level level This one is largely one guy different, but you know, he's in a position being this, you know So g black ops kind of guy where he's kind of at the flashpoint He's at all the things that matter so the game goes from like, you know, Cuba Missile Crisis to Vietnam And then copy on a little bit is it is it kind of off the rails in the modern warfare style of like the Michael Bay It is not that crazy, but yeah, there are a lot of things blowing up Like are there is there ever case where dudes are hanging from a rope ladder from helicopter flying over an exploding castle? No, but there's a nothing that outlandish I think there's a scene at the end of that game that actually put me off of the game quite a bit You told me the ending I'm not gonna spoil it obviously, but I remember my reaction was basically like well That's kind of stupid. Yeah, there there are there are it's almost They get so close and then they're just like a handful of moments in that game where you go wow, that's really dumb.

Yeah Wow, yeah, that's really. Wow. That's really. Okay.

Wow. That's super cliche like you didn't need credence here How do you write like a generic obvious thing? Oh, no, is there a reason runs for the jungle seriously? Rolling stones in your handrics.

No, I don't think so M&M song over credits though. That's the big money. That was a long shot that Yeah, there's a lot of really good music like the unlicensed music is really good But the license music is just it's so it's not in the hokiest like hey, we're making a Vietnam movie And it's like f off like this is this is that's just so it is right about reason there It is couched in real events that unlike modern warfare. Yeah, for two these are They're kind of weaving in and out of actual history in this so the end game of all these are gonna be actual events So you can't tell if they're gonna be the United States or something crazy like that So right and the zombie mode in there is based on the zombie outbreak from the Vietnam War.

Yeah, yeah That's all just taking place like basically taking its beat from yeah. Yeah, all right. Yeah, there's a there's an interesting zombie level That unlocks at you beat the campaign. That's a it's funny.

Sure zombies zombies are cool and everything But I'm really sad that speckos has not been added to the list of requisite. I don't like the zombie mode at all I don't like it Or like I just and some people are way into it like that kind of like survival co-op stuff But I just it does absolutely not I would have rated that in for spec ops is awesome So I got the best thing about where wolves is But yeah, you know you get the impression that like Trey R's doing the stuff that they're good at like the fire and explosions look really good Like you got you know Underbarrel mounted flamethrowers if you want, you know, it's like they're clearly saying like we made this fire tech and it's awesome Why God we're gonna use it again. I'm in favor of using good fire. Yeah, that's excellent Yeah, is there any kind of co-op or campaign with another person zombies is the is cool That's it.

There's no co campaign co-op or anything like that. Do you think they're saving spec ops for like DLC? No, I don't I think that's an infinity word thing that they're not gonna do. Okay.

Um Yeah, that's cool. That's lame. That's lame. I'm sorry.

Just as Jeff. I understand this game has 3D graphics support It does how's that? You dug up your 3D TV has it ain't too long I didn't like it. It's uh it cuts the frame rate too much.

Um, that's a shame the frame rate is less stable Like it's a series is all about smooth frame rate, right? So the action did you feel that three-dimensional? Yeah, yeah, it's a Hard stuff or is it like it's hard stuff? It's the gun at the bottom of the screen is a really good example Like you know where to put the death But it's just like you're looking to do a little like like you're looking to do a box that there's a game thing Play so I got to see a little bit of it like the one thing that really impressed me was going to iron sites You know like a scoped well, but you actually got a real sense of like smooth death through the scope Yeah, which was kind of cool.

Yeah, that stuff's neat and there's there's a lot of neat stuff There's some some sequences where you have a really large areas just this huge snowy zone of and you can see forever and in 3D Like it looks really cool. Just when you see the boundaries of the TV kind of bumps. Yeah, well, it's it's no It's just that the frame rates not there. Yeah, it's well worth trading Yeah, smooth as for yeah, and also I find it really disorienting Um, I think a lot of it's because they do so many depth of field tricks in that game Oh, it's just like they're forcing like, you know, this stuff's gonna be blurry because it's not what you're supposed to be looking at But you look at it and go like well to 3D like your eyes think they should be able to focus on it can't do and Like that the field is a side effect of 2D.

I got to say mixing a magic forcing it. Yeah, yeah This is real. Yeah, so it's yeah, that stuff kind of gets in the way And and yeah, just like the frame rate not being there like it doesn't look as smooth And that's that's so key to the entire call to the experience. It's just it's not worth.

It's not worth trading I mean, no, no, no, no, no fail on the 3D stuff because if you like it, oh, yeah, yeah, exactly You know, and you know, it's like some stuff like the version Yeah, I don't know they'll probably patch this very soon. It's like a really minor detail, but there's one part where you're launching So there's one part where you are shooting things a great distance like almost a border style or something and the reticle is like two inches off to the right Like weird stuff like that They just need a patch that's not like that deal So they've got their whole regular multiplayer mode in there as well. They didn't really do any new modes and still team that match headquarters and Objective but you know demolition perks and perks and you know, they're kind of changed the load out perks And like I said, they got rid of the new because no new kills freak anymore But there's a map called new town that at the end it just blows up everything at the end of every So it's like Halloween town except with nukes. Yeah, it's like as weird kind of fifties looking neighborhood with mannequins Oh, right so the crystal skull reference Yeah, sort of got it.

Um you ever get the fear that they're gonna like Tony Hawk that series into something where it's like every Year they feel like that they add something new into multiplayer and it's just gonna it's starting to start getting silly or something like that Already is not already already it's already taking place before our eyes, right? Yeah, you think that's like you're afraid that like that's gonna happen It's like you feel like zombies are the bamarjera of that series. No, no, it's it's the bigger problem is that they went and did all this Weager match stuff, which is the way to match stuff is actually isn't bad. It's actually a lot of fun, but it's They're building all this stuff around the core multiplayer and not doing anything really exciting with the core multiplayer, right?

So it's like Yes team deathmatch and its headquarters and it's all the stuff that you've totally been playing for the last three years and hey He played again and at this point I was like, okay. Yeah, like by the end of my time with the game. I was like, okay Yeah, I'm I'm kind of good And I wish that they were doing more with that stuff and it's not to say that's completely unchanged Like I'm saying that the mobility is a little different when you're holding light machine guns and stuff like the movement is different So it's kind of another consideration when you're choosing weapons What's it they've done in the past? It seems like it's even more exaggerated this time you can dive to prone If you're like running and you tap be you'll dive and which is a so that one of the challenges is dive through five windows Kind of cool.

You take like fall damage or you heal it back. Yeah, yeah, absolutely And you know your your using perks and buying it So that's the other thing is you're buying all your attachments and weapon camo and basically anything that is going on to your custom classes You have to now pay cod points to unlock So as you level up with your experience points you instead are in the ability to purchase some of this stuff And what that does it you know if you know you play a certain way like I don't ever want to use a sniper rifle in multiplayer Call of Duty anywhere ever ever ever ever ever. So I just don't have to buy these sniper rifles It actually gives you the flexibility to get the stuff you want sooner. Yes, that's cool The downside of that is that you get it all a lot sooner and by level 20.

I was like all right I'm kind of done. Wait is it just like a flat like everything is available at the same level Uh, there are just you have enough to buy it. No, it's it's Are there like level requirements? So like there are like eight assault rifles or something like that and at the start you can only buy one so as you're leveling up You're getting more and more Um, and yeah, if I kept playing I would like a assault rifle but I felt like I was pretty good at that point It's like all right this this weapons gonna be fine like they're they're not gonna go so far out of balance and then make these late weapons amazing And you can buy all the perks right off the bat.

They made getting the pro versions of perks a lot harder. Um, they added more requirements to that stuff Um But yeah, you can kind of just build your custom class like to build a couple of custom classes That are you know, kind of how you play the game and sort of feel done and Yeah, I guess I just got to a point where I there was no carrot anymore There was there was nothing to look forward to other than I'm just gonna keep shooting dudes. Um, and the campaign Six hours about that six hours. So what is the longer gonna say like four hours or something like that?

But you know that people always say that it's I think for the average person will probably six seven But like what is the long term carrot for the call of duty series at this point? Like how many more of these games do they have in them? I think that they need to make and this isn't like me saying that black ops is bad I do think it's it's just very similar. It sounds like yeah I think that for whatever they do from here, it needs a dramatic redesign It needs something on the level of call of duty for you know what that did to that series They need that again.

Um if they really want to like prevent it from doing this like Tony Hawk guitar here thing Um Because it's it's just kind of the it's just kind of the same thing I think that this time around for this game they will put out way more maps That's that's my gut feeling especially because like every activation developer that turned out shooter that didn't sell is now working on maps for that game probably Kind of just speculative here. You think they'll analyze keep this keep this every year. Oh, yeah Yeah, I think well next year. I think we're gonna see multiple games that say call of duty on them The question is do you think there'll be another one of these?

Yes, just the style of this that is much I think that's how we're sitting around the car last week that they were just gonna make it Yeah, is that Treyarch? I think no, I think it's gotta be infinity work. I think it's gotta be infinity work They're not just sitting there mooping. They're not just sitting there going to be a quick two Yeah, but there's not last I checked that we're not enough people there probably pull off project that scale probably Over there.

It's like totally high, but I thought I remembered that the dudes who were going to be who they stole from or not stole that like that came over from Yeah, yeah, let's have a game. They're working on something also, but I thought the application was that that would be something different. Yeah, it's not a shooter That's not gonna be the typical shooter. So I think we'll get our chance next year to see a dramatically different game with the Call of Duty name on it But that doesn't necessarily automatically sound amazing either They're in a real tough spot and then it's not gonna seem like a tough spot because I think this game's gonna come out and sell fine They're gonna be like still got the money maker and next year those games will probably still find like we still got It'll be like a guitar here.

They add a couple of games where it was still selling like this is still amazing And then this one came out this year. They're like, oh fuck right. What year they realized they don't really got it anymore And they put when they start Yeah, and then they just put the brakes on like everything called duty Well, they'll do the same thing to the guitar here It was like as soon as that like they start to lose to another franchise or like feel like their just their numbers are not justifying their insane marketing cost They will be like, okay breaks on done You know like maybe we'll make another one or we'll just like we'll farm this out to one of our lower tier developers And we'll keep making them for like the audience still cares, but it won't be like their big investment anymore But that's how I'm doing rolls like they wait until it's something's not popular anymore And then they shut it off and they find their next thing It doesn't look like anything's really stepping up to kind of feel that gap in middle Modern had a shot and didn't didn't make it not even close When you come to the king you best not miss exactly and they missed they missed bad Dices still doing battlefield three right back that could be huge. I think that will be huge Whether or not the game is is Computes on that level I don't know because it's it's such a bigger thing But I think a lot of people still just want their team death mass shooter their fast-paced action So I was just remembering back like when you were talking about black ops to me over the weekend Remember when Call of Duty debuted as a pc first-person shooter about world war two And there was really nothing about it that was that fancy except the fact that it had Russian and American campaigns going at the same time Yeah, like it was like hey, here's this fast-paced shooter.

Yeah, I didn't really like the first three so much I don't remember I didn't seem like a I didn't remember I think I was like quality games, but they didn't that series didn't interest me until four Yeah, that was like the dramatic that was the yeah exactly that was when they That was jumping off seven point for I mean, that's his first person shooters I mean, they basically defined the modern era of online shooters right. Yeah, and everything has changed I mean games that aren't even first person shooters have redesigned themselves to have multiplayer that functions were I'm looking at blur Perk and Mario Kart will perks. Yeah, it's just like it's crazy, but I mean it's fun It was when you play Call of Duty 1 did you think that that was going to be the franchise? No, not at all.

All other shooters ran out of it never seemed like that. You know that medal of honor like back then It was I don't know there wasn't even completely tired back then there were a couple of really good metal honor games But it's still never like back in that era though. I was going up on like the multiplayer in a shooter I wanted an unreal tournament. I wanted that type of that type of super fast fast-paced multiplayer Big rocket splash name is yeah, yeah, and all the multiplayer for that stuff and you know like a return to castle wolf and stylist There's a whole era of the PC shooter that just totally lost me like kind of the post Post-doom to yeah, it's fair.

It was doomed to forget everything else Post-quake 3 okay post unreal tournament It was just something it was crazy to me when I started thinking about it because I remember like infinity word like seeming like this kind of weird upstart And it will not really I mean I remember when we got the review copy everyone's really cool. Yeah, and I was like yeah It was really cool. I call duty to came along people like this is like a really amazing world war two shooter And I was like oh great world war two fun. Yeah, I did it was all over with Yeah, you really have to give it to I mean the call duty for especially the multiplayer.

I mean it was yeah Yeah, it was totally hit the right time and hit a market that was sale Yeah, I'm like what we could do and that's the thing is that you can see the market getting sailing out Yeah, so it's interesting Maybe it'll go like you said another two years or another release and maybe one more and then What's the company work guys? Maybe but they'll be done and we'll say hey you check this out Crazy adventure game that is a lot of things that I just once a year. Yeah, well then maybe it'll be bungee Who ships their game first? This is like this is some bug in a nuclear arm First you think so respond just found it in the last six months.

Yeah, yeah Working on the fiction Who wants to run further away from their old franchise the most like this bunch you want to get really far away from halo or you know Like who's gonna make the more similar game? Yeah, we're really I feel like bungee has more to prove that's something we were talking about before now Jeff where like I have the point you made about reach when it came out was like they perfected that formula like they made their best Halo game and like it's a good time for them to move on. Yeah, and call it the same thing as happened to this This style of Call of Duty in half the time or less right? I mean, I'm sorry I was like twice as many games Yeah, like a ship as many games as like main series Halo games and like less than half the time Right, I mean it just seems to me like the dudes from Call of Duty still have a lot of pride for what they made and they're not like totally sick To death necessarily of making that style of game They just wanted to do something different But you know not necessarily totally get away from what made them famous whereas bungee's has always seemed like they kind of wanted to get away from Halo for a while like they're yeah, yeah Yeah, they actually any work I just wanted to get away from Activision.

Yeah, they wanted to take my work with them And so I make their gangster military shooters. It seems like yeah, like it's amazing King because being which ice cube those voices in black ops. Oh nice. It's an iced tea also No, he's in here.

He's something isn't something recently isn't he I see I thought he voice acted in something gears or three That's that's the I started out. I remember anyway, so I go yeah, so so ice cube is it plays a role in the single player But he's also one of the multiplayer voice. That's so good. So you hear him talk about your tackles search and has been destroyed and that's Where's stuff like damn you gotta get them?

That's awesome and Harris is in there I think it's so weird to think about name celebrities doing like announcing for multi-player. Yeah, it's just you know There's gave the lines to him. Yeah, it's like yeah, they don't know it from whatever. Yeah, and Sam Worthington does the voice of the lead character We're he's the avatar guy, right?

Yeah, is he really boring? He's terrible. Yeah, Sam Worthington is terrible So I went and I you know at some point I started looking into it There's a whole crazy system in that game that you can there's a bunch of cool Intel That you can unlock and there's a whole weird terminal system with a bunch of really cool stuff on it And you eventually kind of put together that Alex Mason the main character Which isn't well, he also the guy in red baton That's Alec Mason. It's Alec big.

Definitely. We had this with the guy in fractures name. Oh hell. Oh, anyway, anyway So it's kind of a weird I'm just thinking of the Ed Harris John Mason in the rock connection right now.

Yeah, yeah Um, he's from Alaska story was half the game sounds like he's from Australia Yeah, really yeah, Alaska and Australia are not the same accent or they start with an a yeah There's that so that that should give you some kind of indication is the same or the performance Though you know to be fair like that's you know, he's a protagonist in a call of duty game that actually speaks But you don't always get right but it's he he does a bad job. He does a bad job. That's it You didn't do a good job. Exactly.

It's only were good I was saying Worthington. Yeah, what else? Yeah, it's yeah, there's there's some cool that can be in it a little bit really First thing that happens we put that disk in is you see a smoking woman reading numbers into a microphone Wait a minute. You're talking about live after the Warriors.

It's literally like a shot of her lips and smoking like I'm sorry. I wear shot. Yeah, but it's much better lit because a lot of the game is about these numbers Like it's right the whole plot of the game has this kind of numbers station thing And it was really cool because I know Cold War era I'm not a big fan of stations for real long time So it's like kind of weird like kind of losty reference at this point though Because like that was such a big part of that show and that mythos that like I never watched lost So I know how they end up if they end up tying that actual numbers stations. It's not like it's not like I'm coming this number.

It's not like okay. It's not like okay It's not like lost then okay I just I just know that game is big on it's sort of like it has a lot of conspiracy stuff in it And that's that's what made me think it was weird that way I have a question. Yeah, is there a no Russian moment of any kind? No, okay You but I bet at one point they had one on the drawing there because there are rumors out there There's room for when you're saying oh yeah like I mean this room for like a pretty messed up one In fact and then it's I'm not gonna talk to just a newborn infant shooting other babies Right and there are American babies.

Oh, so college duty babies. This is the only pivotal moment in American history. Okay Yeah, so yeah, you can see them. You can see them doing okay You can see one one for someone probably brought that up But he suggested it no no, it's the legal team probably not behind that one.

Good fire Call of duty. Yeah, it's a video game. Also. I think the RC car is totally lame It's it's a kill streak.

It's a three kill kill streak. So it's just as pervasive as like UAVs or RC cars. Yeah, you should be RC you damn well better. It's not easy because they're pretty fast But yeah, so the RC car you just you know you start controlling it and you drive it up to someone and pull the trigger to make it blow up And it'll kill it'll kill do us.

Yeah Where's the multiplayer if you know, my if it doesn't spoil anything, where's it take place like where the map all over the place? Okay, you know, the game kind of takes place all over the place I mean you do a lot traveling but the multiplayer is not necessarily connected There's there's moments from the single player that you'll see in some of these multiple areas specific or anything like that Like no, not really. I mean it takes over a wider period of time as well There's a lot of it's hold flashback. So you're seeing uh moments from you know Cuba You're seeing like missile crisis type stuff and then going all the way through, you know, Vietnam, Cuba And and all that so it's not a Vietnam game the middle of it is a Vietnam game But it's not it's not a purely a Vietnam game.

Did you appreciate like a little different atmosphere there? Yeah, I think that that's probably one of the best things about it is that they do So the whole game is basically holding flashback because you're being interrogated But the whole the main menu to the game is an interrogation room. Are you interrogated in first person? Yeah, um So between that and the smoking lady reading numbers and like all the stuff and you know, they're very big about redacting text So it's just like it'll when when missions start, you know, they'll kind of pop up in the lower left corner And they'll say where you are what you're doing there and the date and all this stuff And then it slowly starts putting black bars over all of it until all that's left is your name and the date It's supposed to be you telling the story and then somebody transcribing it or something something like that.

Yeah, sure That's not That's not accurate. That's not everything. I won't be too far into that stuff because Yeah, so it's cool that they were able to make it feel really different from a story perspective But a lot of that stuff like I said, really okay, really okay Yeah, four stars. Oh, it's cool game rated in which are yeah cool game.

It's got issues Um Okay. Yeah play any else that's video games. I mean, you know not really just a I think we talked about bloodstone last week, right? Yeah, it's a long game.

They're moving development of the basketball franchise to tiberon in fact So as soon as they delayed it, I wondered why they didn't like why anybody thought it was actually gonna come out Under that name because you don't ship the sports game with the year name on it right in the year that it Was worth the trend. They could have been trending.

Actually, it's a baseball the only the only franchise that ever did that was college basketball Because they always came out around March madness and so it was still technically that season That was the only franchise ever did that and I feel like there was a baseball game that was right on the numbers isn't Isn't the show use current numbers? It's a little bit 10. It does it came out this year. Yeah, yeah They say anything with the press release and they were taking it off to work on whatever They're just a cancel they said cancel and we're moving development to tiberon and and they're gonna work on it from here on out We'll see what happens and so basically read between the lines was oh fuck what we do the name stays right?

It's silly. That's I mean we'll see it depends on how damaged that name is by the time they go to put out another basketball game Well, but this one never actually came out. It's never got well came out on the iPhone. Oh, well So there's a product out there You know they never got any reduce scores attached to this right they never generated any potential others like this all those the demos out there There's technically a console band right in the a-lea that's out there.

Yeah, yeah, um Man man man like dude that even got finished through production and then they pull the plug on it They would if they could put that game out with no marketing and as cheaply as they can Yeah, I wonder how close I can get the making of money back just from curiosity secrets at this point I need to get a copy that check that it would be so it would be so brand damaging and so unbelievably negative for their shareholders that they would never do it Yeah Like think about like what the math must have been on this that it made more sense for them to straight up cancel it After spending all of the money developing it like all of it all done they were done the only thing they probably say money on was tv ads That was it. Yeah, and you know they maybe they pulled the plug mid production so there aren't that many discs out there But some are printed right? Yeah, there's some in stores Like they shipped out stores had to be shipped back or at least it's distributed all the way out to actual So how long until 10 years until those things start freely being like dudes walking away with them having their you know Box on their office and they're like I got fired. I'm gonna take like a ton of these with me right hand them out the friends Yeah, I wonder if they're actively destroying all the copies that they have their hands on like yeah, probably probably I think I have to Place them going out to the desert just are there any on eBay at this moment copies have gotten out there Yeah, I ended up with a ps3 copy there might not be any copy on eBay right now What are they with that video on YouTube of the two dudes playing the demo of that game is one of the greatest things I've ever seen as far as like How did even this demo get through and approved?

But it's amazing thing it's amazing tale I think just in terms of wherever you are today in terms of the internet and like that video I mean kind of dictating like the reaction that somebody's gonna take For publishing a goddamn game. It's like shit really I mean here's the double mess got a copy of the ps3 version up on eBay right now 600 bucks by an hour for a grand You know Jesus, but that's a really messed up thing. Okay, so I've worked for a publisher like I know how Absolutely crazy those like you know like you know approval standards can be for some of those games like what the decision like the boardroom decision-making Processes well no no more to the point I can't believe though that game got to the manufacturing process I'm talking about the QA a little bit because the thing is when you submit to like Microsoft and Sony and Nintendo is Is I think by far the most stringent as far as that stuff goes but like I don't know if there's a wee version of that game I don't remember but but like I know that like they will check you on some pretty like base level stuff that like standards wise At the same time though, there are ways around that there are ways around that like a game like fall out new vegas Otherwise would not have shipped if there weren't ways around it. Yeah, I mean yeah It just seems crazy that a game like that that obviously is so messed up that they had to pull it Yeah, but also they're gonna theme you on technical issues insert, but they're not gonna shut the game down based on bad design Right like it's more than just bad design.

I mean it's like you know in that video There is literally a moment where there is just a player that is standing Yeah, yeah I play the room that dude pops up in there Who knows what the technical state of the final certified game was like it may be technically a clean game But it might still be a terrible game and that's enough reason for you Especially when you're in the middle of your like full-on brand relaunch. Yeah, yeah Yeah, it's been a time saying like we're changing the name because we've changed the game Yeah, like it being a technically competent, but still terrible game is enough reason. Yeah It's just it's just crazy to me one that gave me through certain to that again It got to that production phase and then finally someone turn it went no No, I just wanted to kind of get out there and be like is it this ain't that bad? And somebody told you god damn it's not that bad you overreacted you always overreacted You think she buys copy you know, that's the real thing there has a good feedback reading.

So here's a question how that happened I mean they've been pressing discs up for a little while apparently they just say that they were making it here's a more specific question Do you think they produced it prior to what was it November 2nd 4th original day?

I don't get the impression that they were in manufacturing when they push it Which is a question they push it so that they could create some sort of title update for it or something like fixes something I don't know that they came out a lot of people said it was you know They want to make sure that it required a higher level firmware so that their most popular game would force people to update breaking all the hacking stuff It was like the older version the current firmware is the one that like locks out this crazy USB device right? Yeah, yeah So maybe that was that could have been partially behind it or you know there was a crash bug found like there's a lot of people I've said a lot of things about that.

They're sure that this is why I got pushback But I don't think it's anything definitive out there Is there an official word on it like not to push back to but like a date? No, but It looks like they've got a launch party planned in Madrid for the 24th and 25th and some people are starting to claim that it's gonna come out the following week So 30th the 27th 28th or 30th the Tuesday. I think 30 days is too. I think these are my men people talking European dates Yeah, so that would be like a Friday or something The week before yeah, the 25th so they'll be like right after all the Thanksgiving stuff Thanksgiving well, I guess I'm a jury they don't have to worry about to be with Thanksgiving Confidence, you know because they're eating and drinking at midnight anyway So so yeah, theoretically this game really could be out on the 30th That was there was some talk about 1130 and then some people started about 1230 has a possible date 1230 would be a mistake.

Yeah, that would be a bummer. Yeah, that would be So I don't know it looks like this game is actually gonna come out. I mean that was great I mean that thing is basically a system seller, right? I don't know.

Yeah, it's made three iterations Yeah, there are plenty of people out there who only play games with this calendar on a PlayStation Yeah, so that's not a system seller in that case well, maybe or I don't maybe I feel like I have the memories of that the GT3 bundle fly off the shelf. Yeah, yeah I just want a lot of PS2's yeah, I'm just wondering if you were like a little more cynical now about it like maybe they're not quite as They were just as popular with people outside of the realm of the people who would know about all these delays Yeah, these are people that like the week before comes out you say hey There's new grunts recently go do as soon as TV ads that people get soaked Yeah, like you start advertising that shit on top care and you know it's like it's on yeah I'm just excited cuz like sim racing games always look so good I'll console for the longest time there you look at like Gran Turismo and some of the driving games and stuff They were like that was how you pull out with the real power of a system It was like the first-person shooters for the PC yeah, so like you had driving games on console Yeah, how does triple-H just hair look how terrible how's this car bang?

We'll see how detailed as rims or yeah, I'm non-jaggy are they? I'm totally excited jazz. I kind of I've never been a huge Grunts or is my but the last one really last prologue they put out like they'd added a level of assistance to it that made a lot more Approachable because I you know I don't really like hardcore sim racing the thing I like about forces that they have a Assistant there to make it there's a middle approachable Yeah, you can feel like you can turn those assists off as you get better at it Where's grunts reason? I just felt like all depend for a lot of years, but that last prologue It seemed like they were kind of figuring it out like okay.

What do they do it's not quite like Duke Nukem crazy or anything, but it's it has been a really new new company I always felt like this game is gonna come out.
