Giant Spider
from James Grady Poet · host James Grady
When youthful promise has run out We’re way too far along The fire to fuck the world and fight And put it in a song Has turned to little thrills Like rounding petrol up in tens Of counting down the days until A dinner with your friends But youth and beauty came for me There were days when my skin Was blistering And I fell in and out of love with girls who did exactly the same I’m not finished yet believe me Though I’m always lying down a giant spider with the money he eats everyone in town When 6 o’clock comes bleeping And we talk imaginary babies Before driving to city Thinking nothing now can faze me I don’t think about myself half as much As I used to do So Maybe I become a man The day I fell in love with you 27 is the age that rockstars are supposed to die But I never left my bedroom long enough To practically try So I think I’ll die much older now And let my hair recede My feeling are not pop song sized But neither are these jeans
