Gibraltar Today – At the Beach: Catalan Bay

Today’s episode was recorded live from Catalan Bay as part of our At the Beach series.The Catalan Bay Senior Committee has condemned the East Side marina development. Chris Riddell from the Committee expressed their issues and  in areas such as environmental and public health concerns.News Editor Christine Vasquez brought us the latest regarding the trade dispute on the public sector pay rise. Unite have called for four days of strike action.Regular beachgoer Bob Estella came to Caleta as a child and is now making new memories there with his grandchildren.Opposition Minister Giovani Origo told us that by going ahead with the Eastside project the Government will be going against one of their key manifesto commitment.  Manolo Bonfiglio has been a local in Caleta his entire life: he told us what the beach was like when he was a boy, and remembers accessing the beach by Williams Way tunnel.David De Castro and his daughter Eliza are visiting Gibraltar but have family ties to the Rock. He spent many summer holidays on the shores of Catalan Bay.And tourists Ross and Betty Saint Quentin are on the Rock celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary!
