Gifting a Pet for Christmas: SpayFirst!
from Wellness Radio with Dr. J · host Dr. Jeanette Gallagher ND
How many parents think it is cute or a great time to give a pet for Christmas but never consider about SpayFIRST!. Was this suggested to you but cost or time stopped you short of being a responsible pet owner? Do you know the risks of pet over population? As we see the cute dogs and cats at the mall pet store, who could resist the fluffy feel of their coat and the way they cuddle and lick you. The small size and quiet squeak seem to be like a drug to those looking for companionship or wanting to add sweetness to their lives. Is anyone thinking past the initial emotional eye candy being presented in front of them for purchase? My guest today is Ruth Steinberger, Founder of SpayFirst!. She is a highly-respected animal advocate who has coordinated rural pet sterilization programs since 1993. Her goal is to share her knowledge of prevention (spay/neuter), education and legal protection to protect animals by developing support programs across the country. We will be talking today about why it is so important to take care of the animals that take care of us by sharing their unconditional love. Animals are not disposable and they have not been honored for all they do. We, as pet owners, have the responsibility to take care of them and that is also about not allowing uncontrolled over population that may lead to shortened lives due to homelessness or euthanasia. Step up if you wish to be a new pet owner, your little ball of fur depends on you being responsible.Contact SpayFIRST! here.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/wellness-radio-with-dr-j--4618136/support.
