Gilbert Chooses Auburn Over Georgia

Georgia’s big in-state recruiting win just slipped away as four-star safety Chance Gilbert chose Auburn over the Bulldogs — a major blow since he’s ranked No. 4 at his position and No. 56 overall. It’s not the first time talent from Gilbert’s East Coweta school has bolted for rivals, like those twin offensive tackles who headed to Georgia Tech. Auburn’s class now leaps to No. 15 nationally, fueled by Gilbert and other top recruits Georgia was eyeing. Meanwhile, Georgia’s class sits at No. 24 nationally and No. 7 in the SEC, buoyed by recent additions like four-star QB Colton Nussmeier. Though the Gilbert loss stings, Georgia’s secondary remains stacked with future stars already committed — proving they’re still building a powerhouse defense despite the setback.
