Girls in NI Now Can Wear Trousers at School | Belfast News

Northern Ireland’s new school uniform rules mean girls will be able to wear trousers in every class—including PE—starting 2027/28, thanks to the School Uniforms Act. Designed to make uniforms affordable, comfortable, and sustainable, the policy gives students real choice and comfort while easing pressure on parents. Legally binding and backed by the Department of Education, this change ensures schools can’t ignore it—and it’s all about empowering kids to feel themselves at school.
