Episode Description
Introducing The Monogatari Series to Get In the Mecha! The Monogatari Series sits towards the top of my personal favourites list, due to its unique approach to cinematography, narrative and many other factors; the Kizumonogatari film trilogy manages to take this to another level when telling the thrilling tale of Koyomi Araragi's spring break. A central part of the trilogy is the notion of 'humanity' which develops and distorts as the films progress. In this session, I take this idea of humanity apart to try and understand this anime just a bit better In this episode, I discuss the fundamental contradictions that exist from the start, how the aesthetic also contributes to this theme, whether humanity is performative & more. On the side, I chat about my reasons for reading One Piece digitally for the foreseeable future.
