He had been serving as a member of the Presidency of the Seventy and was serving as the senior president of the Presidency of the Seventy when called to the Twelve. Elder Rasband attended the University of Utah and in 1995, Utah Valley University awarded him an honorary Doctorate of Business and Commerce.
