Giving to Give Thanks - Audio

Big Idea If God doesn’t really need anything from us, why do we give Him anything? He is God Almighty, the source of all things, so we cannot really give Him anything he needs, or He does not already have. Nor can we can ever purchase His help or give in order to make God indebted to us. So why do we need to give tithes and offerings, or do we? God may not need anything, but He delights in thankful and grateful hearts. Tithes and offerings that are given from a truly grateful heart are an important way to worship God. Giving up something that is of value to us is a demonstration of our gratitude. A gift that really doesn't cost us anything, isn't much of a gift. The more costly the gift, the greater the depth of gratitude. There is no gift more costly than giving up our lives in service to God. Our gifts are also important in sustaining the place of worship and those who serve there, but the real goal must be the expression of our thanks to God.
