from The Global Watch · host The Global Watch

The Australia Watch were privileged to host Jill Curry who has a vast background of involvement and knowledge of the Charge of the Light Horsemen in Beersheva in 1917. It stirred her to write about the ANZAC history in the Middle East. She organised tours along the Anzac route to share her depth of knowledge with others. Her book “The Anzac Call” is out of print but most of the information can be found at Jill's website https://beersheba100.com.au/She gave a very comprehensive slide show presentation covering the history of the conquering of Beersheva, the ANZAC’s involvement and a deep delve into the characters both physically and spiritually of these ANZAC’s. This year on 31 October 2025 will be the 108th anniversary of that historical and liberating charge. It is known in military history as the Last Calvary Charge. Horses weren’t used again after that time. Scotty Bolton was one of those courageous ANZAC’s highlighted, who on his horse Monty, he achieved very brave outcomes on the day of the charge. He was awarded a "Distinguished Bravery" medal. She spoke of the Promise of God given in Genesis 17:7-8 [Torah portion at the time of the charge]. The NZ's took the well at Tel Sheva to enable the charge to be successful. There was a time of praise and thanksgiving to honouring the Lord for this marvellous achievement and His obvious involvement in overcoming 400 years of Ottoman Turkish rule with the taking back of Beersheva. After this a very full explanation of the “Character/Values, and the Spiritual Call of the Anzacs” was given, again with the assistance of slides. We are Spiritual Anzacs are called to complete the task their forefathers began. Called to battle in the spiritual realm to see the Jewish people come to the Messiah and prepare the way for the Messiah’s to come and rule in Jerusalem. Jill ended the Watch by praying for the arising of spiritual ANZAC’s amongst the generations, and in particular the younger generations.
