Constantly under the authority of whatever empire was ruling at the time, Israel and Judah were forever vulnerable to attack and were under the authority of the system of empire in which they lived. Amidst that, they were set apart as God's people. Today we hear of a beautiful praise psalm in which people "Sing, sing, sing" and praise God. Amidst all the world authorities, we have a higher authority and another kin-do we look forward to. This is the source of our faith, hope and Love - that despite what we see around us, God's story is unfolding and we have a part to play and it will always be Good News.
