Episode 51

In this Gluten Free Thoughts episode, I open up about why I’ve decided to take part in Movember, a global movement that’s close to my heart. Movember goes far beyond growing a moustache—it's about raising awareness and funds for crucial men’s health issues, including mental health, suicide prevention, prostate cancer, and testicular cancer.

As someone living with coeliac disease, I’ve experienced how a health diagnosis can affect your mental and physical well-being in ways you might not expect. In this episode, I reflect on how being diagnosed with coeliac disease changed my life, and how Movember has helped me and so many others start honest conversations about health—especially the ones that can feel the hardest to have.

I’ll also talk about how Movember is helping to break down stigmas and barriers that stop men from speaking up about their health, and how being open about our struggles—whether related to physical or mental health—can make a big difference in someone’s life.

If you’ve ever felt isolated or overwhelmed after a diagnosis like coeliac disease, this episode is for you. I hope it inspires you to talk, reach out, and maybe even get involved with Movember this year.

What I’ll cover:

  • A brief explanation of the Movember movement and what it stands for
  • Why men’s mental and physical health needs more attention
  • How a coeliac disease diagnosis impacted my own mental and physical health
  • The connection between chronic illness and mental health challenges
  • How Movember empowers people to have vulnerable, honest conversations
  • Why raising awareness and funds for men’s health is more important than ever
  • How you can support Movember and take part in your own way
