What does a greek god with an oversized phallus and inconvenient impotence have to do with the garden gnomes?  Gnomes have been a cute and popular addition to homes and gardens for decades, but their origins started much earlier.  Ancient romans kept statues of Priapus in their gardens to ensure a healthy crop.  The spirits of ancient scandi farmers are said to continue caring for land in their afterlife as a gnome.  Gnomes were integral player of alchemy and basic crafting, all while keeping evil spirits at bay, protecting homes and land, causing a bit of a ruckus, and looking adorable.  Find out all about their history, legend, and folklore!
