'Gobsmacked' by Amazon River Experience -Carolyne Jasinski

"Gobsmacked” is not a word to be used lightly as a travel writer, but Carolyne Jasinski was just that – gobsmacked – by the sheer size of the Amazon river and its muddy water at the mouth as her Oceania Cruise ship started a long detour from her ocean crossing from Rio to Miami. Expecting jungle covered shorelines and plenty of wildlife to be seen, Carolyne found the river was a tually 5 km wide. She tells Graeme Kemlo about this quite different cruise experience.
