God Embraces Us
from 60 Seconds of Hope with Horace McMillon · host Horace McMillon
Send us Fan MailGod Embraces Us“But while he was still far off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion; he ran and put his arms around him and kissed him” - Luke 15:20In the story of the prodigal, Jesus clarifies God’s relationship with humanity. In the story, the child decides to leave the home, the father doesn’t kick him out. The great distance and separation between parent and child is entirely the child’s doing. The hardship the child suffers is not the result of the father’s punishment. The hardship he suffers is a result of the environments he places himself in, the people he surrounds himself with and the decisions he makes. When the child comes to realize his mistakes and turns around and heads for home, the father runs to embrace him even while he was a long way off, even before he gets cleaned up, even before he had a chance to say he’s sorry. No matter who we are or what we’ve done or haven’t done, God is waiting to welcome us home. God embraces us. We don’t even have to clean up first. God helps us with this too. I’m Horace McMillon.
