God in the Frontier (Episode 2) - New York: An Old Land, A New Frontier

How did one of the most powerful Native American confederations of the Americas give way to European and US encroachment? And how did Christians feel about this shift of power? In this episode we are introduced to the New York frontier and how a little remembered campaign of total destruction - the Sullivan Expedition - led to the fall of Haudenosaunee land. Using local history books we discover how the land companies of the early New York frontier cheated local tribes for their land, what role Christianity played, and native feelings on the encroaching religion.
