God is Friend God Is | Week 3 August 19, 2018 | Wopsle Luke 19:1-4 NIV Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. Luke 19:5 NIV When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, "Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today." The very first word Jesus ever spoke to this man was his name. A friend knows YOUR NAME. John 11:43 NIV …Jesus called in a loud voice, "Lazarus, come out!" 1 Samuel 3:7-8,10 NIV Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord: The word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him. A third time the Lord called, "Samuel!"…The Lord came and stood there, calling as at the other times, "Samuel! Samuel!" Then Samuel said, "Speak, for your servant is listening." A friend spends QUALITY TIME with you. Revelation 3:20 NIV Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. We try to hard to know GOD’S WILL, when we need to work on knowing GOD. Luke 19:8 NIV But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, "Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything,I will pay back four times the amount." A friend CHANGES your life. Luke 19:9-10 NIV Jesus said to him, "Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost." He BEFRIENDS us before we BELIEVE. He allows us to BELONG before we BEHAVE.
