In response, Isaiah brings a word of comfort and hope to Israel. God promises to comfort his people by giving them the reminder of his greatness. This passage gives believers in Christ a proper response in times of darkness or discouragement as well. We see in Isaiah 40: 21--“Have you not known? Have you not heard?” A proper theology of God is crucial in times of difficulty. God is not too great to CARE and God is TOO GREAT to fail. We must trust him so that he can renew us with strength and fill us with hope (vv 30–31).
