Test the Spirits (Verses 1–6): Believers are warned not to believe every spirit but to test them to see whether they are from God. A true spirit acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh. Those who deny this are not from God but from the spirit of the antichrist. 2.God Is Love (Verses 7–21): The second half of the chapter emphasizes that love is the defining mark of God’s children.
